But neitherhe norhis servantsnorthe peopleof the landlistenedto the wordsof the LORDwhichHe spokethroughJeremiahthe prophet.
Then Davidsaid,"I will showkindnessto Hanunthe sonof Nahash,justas his fathershowedkindnessto me." So Davidsentsomeof his servantsto consolehim concerninghis father.But when David'sservantscameto the landof the Ammonites,
and sent[word] throughNathanthe prophet,and he namedhim Jedidiahfor the LORD'Ssake.
AllIsraelburiedhim and mournedfor him, according to the wordof the LORDwhichHe spokethroughHis servantAhijahthe prophet.
Moreover,the wordof the LORDthroughthe prophetJehuthe sonof HananialsocameagainstBaashaand his household,both becauseof allthe evilwhichhe didin the sightof the LORD,provokingHim to angerwith the workof his hands,in beinglike the houseof Jeroboam,and becausehe struckit.
Zedekiahwas twenty-oneyearsoldwhen he becameking,and he reignedelevenyearsin Jerusalem.
But he said,"Please,Lord,nowsend[the message] by whomever You will."
He cutsoff[his own] feet[and] drinksviolenceWho sendsa messageby the handof a fool.
If a rulerpaysattentionto falsehood,Allhis ministers[become] wicked.
"Thussaysthe LORDGodof Israel,Goand speakto Zedekiahkingof Judahand sayto him: "Thussaysthe LORD,'Behold,I am givingthiscityinto the handof the kingof Babylon,and he will burnit with fire.
And you, O slain,wickedone,the princeof Israel,whosedayhas come,in the timeof the punishmentof the end,'
I have also spokento the prophets,And I gavenumerousvisions,And throughthe prophetsI gaveparables.
Thus Aaronand his sonsdidallthe thingswhichthe LORDhad commandedthroughMoses.
So,he who rejects[this] is not rejectingmanbut the Godwho givesHis HolySpiritto you.
