Then the LORDsaidto me, "Even thoughMosesand Samuelwere to standbeforeMe, My heartwould not be with thispeople;sendthem awayfrom My presenceand let them go!
You too have doneevil,[even] morethanyour forefathers;for behold,you are eachonewalkingaccordingto the stubbornnessof his own evilheart,withoutlisteningto Me.
And you will, even of yourself, letgoof your inheritanceThat I gaveyou; And I will make you serveyour enemiesIn the landwhichyou do not know;For you have kindleda firein My angerWhich will burnforever.
"But as for the landto whichthey desireto return,they will not returnto it.
"Thussaysthe LORD,'Writethismandownchildless,A manwho will not prosperin his days;For nomanof his descendantswill prosperSittingon the throneof DavidOr rulingagainin Judah.'"
AfterNebuchadnezzarkingof Babylonhad carriedawaycaptiveJeconiahthe sonof Jehoiakim,kingof Judah,and the officialsof Judahwith the craftsmenand smithsfrom Jerusalemand had broughtthem to Babylon,the LORDshowedme: behold,twobasketsof figssetbeforethe templeof the LORD!
whichNebuchadnezzarkingof Babylondid not takewhen he carriedinto exileJeconiahthe sonof Jehoiakim,kingof Judah,from Jerusalemto Babylon,and allthe noblesof Judahand Jerusalem.
Now Zedekiahthe sonof JosiahwhomNebuchadnezzarkingof Babylonhad madekingin the landof Judah,reignedas kingin placeof Coniahthe sonof Jehoiakim.
"On allthe housetopsof Moaband in its streetsthereis lamentationeverywhere;for I have brokenMoablike an undesirablevessel,"declaresthe LORD.
Thoughhe flourishesamongthe reeds,An eastwindwill come,The windof the LORDcomingup from the wilderness;And his fountainwill becomedryAnd his springwill be driedup; It will plunder[his] treasuryof everypreciousarticle.
Israelis swallowedup; They are nowamong the nationsLike a vesselin which noonedelights.
