Therefore,givetheir childrenover to famineAnd deliverthem up to the powerof the sword;And let their wivesbecomechildlessand widowed.Let their menalso be smittento death,Their youngmenstruckdownby the swordin battle.
Therefore He broughtup againstthem the kingof the Chaldeanswho slewtheir youngmenwith the swordin the houseof their sanctuary,and hadnocompassionon youngmanor virgin,oldmanor infirm;He gave[them] allinto his hand.
They will be deliveredoverto the powerof the sword;They will be a preyfor foxes.
But the kingwill rejoicein God;Everyonewho swearsby Him will glory,For the mouthsof those who speaklieswill be stopped.
and My angerwill be kindled,and I will killyou with the sword,and your wivesshall becomewidowsand your childrenfatherless.
And [their] bowswill mowdownthe youngmen,They will not even havecompassionon the fruitof the womb,[Nor] will their eyepitychildren.
For those who guidethispeopleare leading[them] astray;And those who are guidedby them are broughtto confusion.
Thereforethe Lorddoes not takepleasurein their youngmen,Nordoes He havepityon their orphansor their widows;For everyoneof them is godlessand an evildoer,And everymouthis speakingfoolishness.In [spite of] allthis,His angerdoes not turnawayAnd His handis stillstretchedout.
But You knowme, O LORD;You seeme; And You examinemy heart's[attitude] towardYou. Dragthem offlike sheepfor the slaughterAnd setthem apartfor a dayof carnage!
"The peoplealso to whomthey are prophesyingwill be thrownout into the streetsof Jerusalembecauseof the famineand the sword;and therewill be nooneto burythem-- [neither] them, [nor] their wives,northeir sons,northeir daughters--for I will pourout their [own] wickednesson them.
"I will winnowthem with a winnowingforkAt the gatesof the land;I will bereave[them] of children,I will destroyMy people;They did not repentof their ways.
"Their widowswill be morenumerousbefore Me Thanthe sandof the seas;I will bringagainst them, againstthe motherof a youngman,A destroyerat noonday;I will suddenlybringdownon her Anguishand dismay.
"Thereforeher youngmenwill fallin her streets,And allher menof warwill be silencedin that day,"declaresthe LORD.
For deathhas comeup through our windows;It has enteredour palacesTo cutoffthe childrenfrom the streets,The youngmenfrom the townsquares.
"The Lordhas rejectedallmy strongmenIn my midst;He has calledan appointedtimeagainstme To crushmy youngmen;The Lordhas trodden[as in] a winepressThe virgindaughterof Judah.
We have becomeorphanswithouta father,Our mothersare like widows.
"Thus I will judgeyou like women who commitadulteryor shedbloodare judged;and I will bringon you the bloodof wrathand jealousy.
"There is a conspiracyof her prophetsin her midstlike a roaringliontearingthe prey.They have devouredlives;they have takentreasureand preciousthings;they have mademanywidowsin the midstof her.
"I senta plagueamong you after the mannerof Egypt;I slewyour youngmenby the swordalongwith your capturedhorses,And I made the stenchof your campriseup in your nostrils;Yet you have not returnedto Me," declaresthe LORD.
Outsidethe swordwill bereave,And insideterror--Bothyoungmanand virgin,The nurslingwith the manof grayhair.
Alexanderthe coppersmithdidme muchharm;the Lordwill repayhim accordingto his deeds.
But Samuelsaid,"As your swordhas madewomenchildless,soshall your motherbe childlessamongwomen."And SamuelhewedAgagto piecesbeforethe LORDat Gilgal.
