Belhas boweddown,Nebostoopsover;Their imagesare [consigned] to the beastsand the cattle.The thingsthat you carryare burdensome,A loadfor the weary[beast].
"Gatheryourselves and come;Drawneartogether,you fugitivesof the nations;They havenoknowledge,Who carryabout their woodenidolAnd prayto a godwho cannotsave.
Then they tookthe oxwhichwas giventhem and they preparedit and calledon the nameof Baalfrom morninguntilnoonsaying,"O Baal,answerus." But therewas novoiceand nooneanswered.And they leapedaboutthe altarwhichthey made.
Everymanis stupid,devoidof knowledge;Everygoldsmithis putto shameby his idols;For his moltenimagesare deceitful,And there is nobreathin them.
"Thereyou will servegods,the workof man'shands,woodand stone,whichneitherseenorhearnoreatnorsmell.
Then the angerof the LORDburnedagainst Amaziah,and He senthim a prophetwho saidto him, "Whyhave you soughtthe godsof the peoplewhohave not deliveredtheir own peoplefrom your hand?"
So it will comeabout whenMoabpresentshimself, Whenhe wearieshimself upon [his] highplaceAnd comesto his sanctuaryto pray,That he will not prevail.
