By faithRahabthe harlotdid not perish alongwith thosewho were disobedient,after she had welcomedthe spiesin peace.
But someonemay [well] say,"You havefaithand I haveworks;showme your faithwithoutthe works,and I will showyou my faithby my works."
You seethat faithwas workingwith his works,and as a resultof the works,faithwas perfected;
You seethat a manis justifiedby worksand not by faithalone.
Then Joshuathe sonof Nunsenttwomenas spiessecretlyfrom Shittim,saying,"Go,viewthe land,especiallyJericho."So they wentand cameinto the houseof a harlotwhose namewas Rahab,and lodgedthere.
Then she letthem downby a ropethroughthe window,for her housewas on the citywall,so that she was livingon the wall.
She saidto them, "Goto the hillcountry,sothat the pursuerswill not happenupon you, and hideyourselves therefor threedaysuntilthe pursuersreturn.Then afterwardyou may goon your way."
But the womanhad takenthe twomenand hiddenthem, and she said,"Yes,the mencameto me, but I did not knowwherethey were from.
But she had broughtthem up to the roofand hiddenthem in the stalksof flaxwhich she had laidin orderon the roof.
"The cityshall be underthe ban,it and allthat is in it belongs to the LORD;onlyRahabthe harlotand allwhoare with her in the houseshall live,becauseshe hidthe messengerswhomwe sent.
