Lookdownfrom heavenand seefrom Your holyand glorioushabitation;Whereare Your zealand Your mightydeeds? The stirringsof Your heartand Your compassionare restrainedtowardme.
"But will Godindeeddwellon the earth?Behold, heavenand the highestheavencannotcontainYou, howmuchlessthishousewhichI have built!
Then the Leviticalpriestsaroseand blessedthe people;and their voicewas heardand their prayercameto His holydwellingplace,to heaven.
To You I liftup my eyes,O You who are enthronedin the heavens!
Remember,O LORD,Your compassionand Your lovingkindnesses,For they have been from of old.
From His dwellingplaceHe looksout On allthe inhabitantsof the earth,
A fatherof the fatherlessand a judgefor the widows,Is Godin His holyhabitation.
Then I said,"It is my grief,That the righthandof the MostHighhas changed."
O God[of] hosts,turnagainnow,we beseechYou; Lookdownfrom heavenand see,and takecareof thisvine,
Even the shootwhichYour righthandhas planted,And on the sonwhom You have strengthenedfor Yourself.
Whereare Your formerlovingkindnesses,O Lord,Which You sworeto Davidin Your faithfulness?
Thereforemy heartintoneslike a harpfor MoabAnd my inwardfeelingsfor Kir-hareseth.
O LORD,Your handis liftedup [yet] they do not seeit. They see[Your] zealfor the peopleand are putto shame;Indeed, firewill devourYour enemies.
"For out of Jerusalemwill gofortha remnantand out of MountZionsurvivors. The zealof the LORDof hostswill performthis."'
The LORDwill goforthlike a warrior,He will arouse[His] zeallike a manof war.He will uttera shout, yes,He will raisea warcry. He will prevailagainstHis enemies.
"Can a womanforgether nursingchildAnd havenocompassionon the sonof her womb?Eventhesemay forget, but I will not forgetyou.
For thussaysthe highand exaltedOne Who livesforever, whose nameis Holy,"I dwell[on] a highand holyplace, And [also] with the contriteand lowlyof spiritIn order to revivethe spiritof the lowlyAnd to revivethe heartof the contrite.
He puton righteousnesslike a breastplate,And a helmetof salvationon His head; And He puton garmentsof vengeancefor clothingAnd wrappedHimself with zealas a mantle.
In alltheir afflictionHe was afflicted,And the angelof His presencesavedthem; In His loveand in His mercyHe redeemedthem, And He liftedthem and carriedthem allthe daysof old.
Will You restrainYourself at thesethings,O LORD?Will You keepsilentand afflictus beyondmeasure?
Thussaysthe LORD,"Heavenis My throneand the earthis My footstool.Wherethenis a houseyou could buildfor Me? And whereis a placethat I may rest?
Therewill be noendto the increaseof [His] governmentor of peace,On the throneof Davidand overhis kingdom,To establishit and to upholdit with justiceand righteousnessFrom thenon and forevermore. The zealof the LORDof hostswill accomplishthis.
"Is EphraimMy dearson? Is he a delightfulchild?Indeed,as oftenas I have spokenagainst him, I certainly[still] rememberhim; ThereforeMy heartyearnsfor him; I will surelyhavemercyon him," declaresthe LORD.
Untilthe LORDlooksdownAnd seesfrom heaven.
Howcan I giveyou up, O Ephraim? How can I surrenderyou, O Israel?Howcan I makeyou like Admah? How can I treatyou like Zeboiim? My heartis turnedoverwithinMe, AllMy compassionsare kindled.
Then the LORDwill be zealousfor His landAnd will havepityon His people.
Becauseof the tendermercyof our God,With whichthe Sunrisefrom on highwill visitus,
Lookdownfrom Your holyhabitation, from heaven, and blessYour peopleIsrael, and the groundwhichYou have givenus, a landflowingwith milkand honey,as You sworeto our fathers.'
Thereforeifthere is anyencouragementin Christ, ifthere is anyconsolationof love, ifthere is anyfellowshipof the Spirit, ifanyaffectionand compassion,
But whoeverhasthe world'sgoods, and seeshis brotherin needand closeshis heartagainsthim, howdoes the loveof Godabidein him?
