A soundof tumulton the mountains,Likethat of manypeople!A soundof the uproarof kingdoms,Of nationsgatheredtogether! The LORDof hostsis musteringthe armyfor battle.
Alas,the uproarof manypeoplesWho roarlike the roaringof the seas,And the rumblingof nationsWho rushon like the rumblingof mightywaters!
The oracleconcerning the beastsof the Negev.Through a landof distressand anguish,From where[come] lionessand lion,viperand flyingserpent,They carrytheir richeson the backsof youngdonkeysAnd their treasureson camels'humps,To a peoplewho cannotprofit[them];
Thereforejusticeis farfrom us, And righteousnessdoes not overtakeus; We hopefor light,but behold,darkness,For brightness,but we walkin gloom.
Then they will lookto the earth,and behold,distressand darkness,the gloomof anguish;and [they will be] drivenawayinto darkness.
Givegloryto the LORDyour God,BeforeHe bringsdarknessAnd beforeyour feetstumbleOn the duskymountains,And while you are hopingfor lightHe makesit into deepdarkness,[And] turns[it] into gloom.

"They seize[their] bowand javelin;They are crueland havenomercy.Their voiceroarslike the sea;And they rideon horses,Marshalledlike a manfor the battleAgainstyou, O daughterof Babylon.

He has drivenme and made me walkIn darknessand not in light.

Alas,you who are longingfor the dayof the LORD,For whatpurpose[will] the dayof the LORD[be] to you? It [will be] darknessand not light;
"It will comeabout in that day,"declaresthe LordGOD,"That I will make the sungodown at noonAnd makethe earthdarkin broaddaylight.
"But immediatelyafterthe tribulationof thosedaysTHE SUNWILL BE DARKENED,AND THE MOONWILL NOT GIVEITS LIGHT,AND THE STARSWILL FALLfrom the sky,and the powersof the heavenswill be shaken.
I lookedwhenHe brokethe sixthseal,and there was a greatearthquake;and the sunbecameblackas sackcloth[made] of hair,and the wholemoonbecamelikeblood;
