For the LORDwill riseup as [at] MountPerazim,He will be stirredup as in the valleyof Gibeon,To doHis task,His unusualtask,And to workHis work,His extraordinarywork.
So Davidcameto Baal-perazimand defeatedthem there;and he said,"The LORDhas brokenthroughmy enemiesbeforeme like the breakthroughof waters."Thereforehe namedthat placeBaal-perazim.
Then Daviddidso,justas the LORDhad commandedhim, and struckdownthe Philistinesfrom Gebaas faras Gezer.
So they cameup to Baal-perazim,and Daviddefeatedthem there;and Davidsaid,"Godhas brokenthroughmy enemiesby my hand,like the breakthroughof waters."Thereforethey namedthat placeBaal-perazim.
Daviddidjustas Godhad commandedhim, and they struckdownthe armyof the Philistinesfrom Gibeoneven as faras Gezer.
Whowill standup for me againstevildoers?Whowill takehis standfor me againstthose who dowickedness?
So it will be that whenthe Lordhas completedallHis workon MountZionand on Jerusalem,[He will say], "I will punishthe fruitof the arrogantheartof the kingof Assyriaand the pompof his haughtiness."
"As oftenas it passesthrough,it will seizeyou; For morningafter morningit will passthrough,[anytime] during the dayor night,And it will be sheerterrorto understandwhatit means."
Thereforebehold,I will once againdealmarvelouslywith thispeople,wondrouslymarvelous;And the wisdomof their wisemenwill perish,And the discernmentof their discerningmen will be concealed."
But whenhe seeshis children,the workof My hands,in his midst,They will sanctifyMy name;Indeed, they will sanctifythe HolyOneof JacobAnd will standin aweof the Godof Israel.
As firekindlesthe brushwood,[as] firecauses waterto boil--To makeYour nameknownto Your adversaries,[That] the nationsmay trembleat Your presence!
Both their own iniquitiesand the iniquitiesof their fatherstogether,"saysthe LORD."Becausethey have burnedincenseon the mountainsAnd scornedMe on the hills,Therefore I will measuretheir formerworkinto their bosom."
Allyour lovershave forgottenyou, They do not seekyou; For I have woundedyou with the woundof an enemy,With the punishmentof a cruelone,Becauseyour iniquityis great[And] your sinsare numerous.
Allwho passalongthe wayClaptheir hands[in derision] at you; They hissand shaketheir headsAt the daughterof Jerusalem,"Is thisthe cityof whichthey said,The perfectionof beauty,A joyto allthe earth'?"
For He does not afflictwillinglyOr grievethe sonsof men.
Now in the twelfthyearof our exile,on the fifthof the tenthmonth,the refugeesfrom Jerusalemcameto me, saying,"The cityhas been taken."
"Lookamong the nations!Observe!Be astonished!Wonder!Because[I am] doingsomethingin your days--You would not believeifyou were told.
And the LORDconfoundedthem beforeIsrael,and He slewthem with a greatslaughterat Gibeon,and pursuedthem by the wayof the ascentof Beth-horonand struckthem as faras Azekahand Makkedah.
As they fledfrom beforeIsrael,[while] they were at the descentof Beth-horon,the LORDthrewlargestonesfrom heavenon them as faras Azekah,and they died;[there were] morewhodiedfrom the hailstonesthanthose whomthe sonsof Israelkilledwith the sword.
ThenJoshuaspoketo the LORDin the daywhen the LORDdeliveredup the Amoritesbeforethe sonsof Israel,and he saidin the sightof Israel,"O sun,standstillat Gibeon,And O moonin the valleyof Aijalon."
