He has stretchedHis handout overthe sea,He has made the kingdomstremble;The LORDhas givena commandconcerningCanaanto demolishits strongholds.
So he said,"Cursedbe Canaan;A servantof servantsHe shall be to his brothers."
The nationsmadean uproar,the kingdomstottered;He raisedHis voice,the earthmelted.
Be to me a rockof habitationto which I may continuallycome;You have givencommandmentto saveme, For You are my rockand my fortress.
Then Mosesstretchedout his handoverthe sea;and the LORDsweptthe sea[back] by a strongeastwindallnightand turnedthe seainto dryland,so the waterswere divided.
I sendit against a godlessnationAnd commissionit againstthe peopleof My furyTo capturebootyand to seizeplunder,And to tramplethem downlike mudin the streets.
ThereforeI will make the heavenstremble,And the earthwill be shakenfrom its placeAt the furyof the LORDof hostsIn the dayof His burninganger.
"Thisis the plandevisedagainstthe wholeearth;and thisis the handthat is stretchedout againstallthe nations.
The watersfrom the seawill dryup, And the riverwill be parchedand dry.
[Men] will gointo cavesof the rocksAnd into holesof the groundBeforethe terrorof the LORDAnd the splendorof His majesty,When He arisesto makethe earthtremble.
Overflowyour landlike the Nile,O daughterof Tarshish,Thereis nomorerestraint.
And [were] on manywaters.The grainof the Nile,the harvestof the Riverwas her revenue;And she was the marketof nations.
For You have madea cityinto a heap,A fortifiedcityinto a ruin;A palaceof strangersis a citynomore,It will neverbe rebuilt.
On thisaccountthe angerof the LORDhas burnedagainst His people,And He has stretchedout His handagainstthem and struckthem down.And the mountainsquaked,and their corpseslaylike refusein the middleof the streets.For allthisHis angeris not spent,But His handis stillstretchedout.
"Whywas therenomanwhen I came?When I called,[why] was therenoneto answer?Is My handsoshortthat it cannotransom?OrhaveI nopowerto deliver?Behold,I dryup the seawith My rebuke,I makethe riversa wilderness;Their fishstinkfor lackof waterAnd dieof thirst.
"Howcan it be quiet,When the LORDhas givenit an order?AgainstAshkelonand againstthe seacoast--ThereHe has assignedit."
"Becauseof the multitudeof his horses,the dust[raised by] them will coveryou; your wallswill shakeat the noiseof cavalryand wagonsand chariotswhen he entersyour gatesas men entera citythat is breached.
They will destroythe wallsof Tyreand breakdownher towers;and I will scrapeher debrisfrom her and makeher a barerock.
"I made the nationsquakeat the soundof its fallwhen I made it godownto Sheolwith those who godownto the pit;and allthe well-wateredtreesof Eden,the choicestand bestof Lebanon,were comfortedin the earthbeneath.
The LORDhas issueda commandconcerningyou: "Your namewill nolongerbe perpetuated.I will cutoffidoland imageFrom the houseof your gods.I will prepareyour grave,For you are contemptible."
I will shakeallthe nations;and they will comewith the wealthof allnations,and I will fillthishousewith glory,'saysthe LORDof hosts.
Everycookingpotin Jerusalemand in Judahwill be holyto the LORDof hosts;and allwho sacrificewill comeand takeof them and boilin them. And there will nolongerbe a Canaanitein the houseof the LORDof hostsin that day.
And He [began] to teachand sayto them, "Is it not written,MY HOUSESHALL BE CALLEDA HOUSEOF PRAYERFOR ALLTHE NATIONS?But you have madeit a ROBBERS'DEN."
and to thosewho were sellingthe dovesHe said,"Takethese thingsaway;stopmakingMy Father'shousea placeof business."
