And [their] bowswill mowdownthe youngmen,They will not even havecompassionon the fruitof the womb,[Nor] will their eyepitychildren.
Hazaelsaid,"Whydoes my lordweep?"Then he answered,"BecauseI knowthe evilthat you will doto the sonsof Israel:their strongholdsyou will seton fire,and their youngmenyou will killwith the sword,and their littleonesyou will dashin pieces,and their womenwith childyou will ripup."
Therefore He broughtup againstthem the kingof the Chaldeanswho slewtheir youngmenwith the swordin the houseof their sanctuary,and hadnocompassionon youngmanor virgin,oldmanor infirm;He gave[them] allinto his hand.
Behold,childrenare a giftof the LORD,The fruitof the wombis a reward.
Their littleonesalso will be dashedto piecesBefore their eyes;Their houseswill be plunderedAnd their wivesravished.
"But thesetwothingswill comeon you suddenlyin oneday:Lossof childrenand widowhood.They will comeon you in fullmeasureIn spite of your manysorceries,In spite of the greatpowerof your spells.
Its arrowsare sharpand allits bowsare bent;The hoofsof its horsesseemlike flintand its [chariot] wheelslike a whirlwind.
Therefore,givetheir childrenover to famineAnd deliverthem up to the powerof the sword;And let their wivesbecomechildlessand widowed.Let their menalso be smittento death,Their youngmenstruckdownby the swordin battle.
"Their quiveris like an opengrave,Allof them are mightymen.
"Thereforeher youngmenwill fallin her streets,And allher menof warwill be silencedin that day,"declaresthe LORD.
"They seize[their] bowand javelin;They are crueland havenomercy.Their voiceroarslike the sea;And they rideon horses,Marshalledlike a manfor the battleAgainstyou, O daughterof Babylon.
And with you I shattermanand woman,And with you I shatteroldmanand youth,And with you I shatteryoungmanand virgin,
"They seizebowand spear;They are crueland havenomercy;Their voiceroarslike the sea,And they rideon horses,Arrayedas a manfor the battleAgainstyou, O daughterof Zion!"
"But as for Me, My eyewill havenopitynorwill I spare,but I will bringtheir conductupon their heads."
"And behold,anotherbeast,a secondone, resemblinga bear.And it was raisedup on oneside,and threeribs[were] in its mouthbetweenits teeth;and thusthey saidto it, 'Arise,devourmuchmeat!'
Samariawill be heldguilty,For she has rebelledagainst her God.They will fallby the sword,Their littleoneswill be dashedin pieces,And their pregnantwomenwill be rippedopen.
The onewhoscattershas comeup againstyou. Manthe fortress,watchthe road;Strengthenyour back,summonall[your] strength.
Yetshe became an exile,She wentinto captivity;Alsoher small childrenwere dashedto piecesAt the headof everystreet;They castlotsfor her honorablemen, And allher greatmenwere boundwith fetters.
