And the LORDsaidto him, "Namehim Jezreel;for yeta littlewhile,and I will punishthe houseof Jehufor the bloodshedof Jezreel,and I will putan endto the kingdomof the houseof Israel.
Now Ahabhad seventysonsin Samaria.And Jehuwrotelettersand sent[them] to Samaria,to the rulersof Jezreel,the elders,and to the guardiansof [the children of] Ahab,saying,
When he cameto Samaria,he killedallwho remainedto Ahabin Samaria,untilhe had destroyedhim, according to the wordof the LORDwhichHe spoketo Elijah.
In the daysof Pekahkingof Israel,Tiglath-pileserkingof Assyriacameand capturedIjonand Abel-beth-maacahand Janoahand Kedeshand Hazorand Gileadand Galilee,allthe landof Naphtali;and he carriedthem captiveto Assyria.
In the thirty-eighthyearof Azariahkingof Judah,Zechariahthe sonof JeroboambecamekingoverIsraelin Samaria[for] sixmonths.
"Thereforethe LordHimselfwill giveyou a sign:Behold,a virginwill be with childand beara son,and she will callHis nameImmanuel.
So I approachedthe prophetess,and she conceivedand gavebirthto a son.Then the LORDsaidto me, "Namehim Maher-shalal-hash-baz;
For a childwill be bornto us, a sonwill be givento us; And the governmentwill reston His shoulders;And His namewill be calledWonderfulCounselor,MightyGod,EternalFather,Princeof Peace.
On the nextday,when PashhurreleasedJeremiahfrom the stocks,Jeremiahsaidto him, "Pashhuris not the namethe LORDhas calledyou, but ratherMagor-missabib.
Thereforethussaysthe LORDGodof Israelconcerningthe shepherdswho are tendingMy people:"You have scatteredMy flockand driventhem away,and have not attendedto them; behold,I am about to attendto you for the evilof your deeds,"declaresthe LORD.
"And I sawthat for allthe adulteriesof faithlessIsrael,I had senther awayand givenher a writof divorce,yet her treacheroussisterJudahdid not fear;but she wentand was a harlotalso.
"They uncoveredher nakedness;they tookher sonsand her daughters,but they slewher with the sword.Thus she becamea bywordamong women,and they executedjudgmentson her.
You have walkedin the wayof your sister;therefore I will giveher cupinto your hand.'
Then she conceivedagainand gavebirthto a daughter.And the LORD saidto him, "Nameher Lo-ruhamah,for I will nolongerhavecompassionon the houseof Israel,that I would everforgivethem.
And the LORD said,"Namehim Lo-ammi,for you are not My peopleand I am not your God."
"I will punishher for the daysof the BaalsWhenshe used to offersacrificesto them And adornherself with her earringsand jewelry,And followher lovers,so that she forgotMe," declaresthe LORD.
And the earthwill respondto the grain,to the newwineand to the oil,And they will respondto Jezreel.
My Godwill castthem awayBecausethey have not listenedto Him; And they will be wanderersamong the nations.
"Behold,the eyesof the LordGODare on the sinfulkingdom,And I will destroyit from the faceof the earth;Nevertheless,I will not totallydestroythe houseof Jacob,"Declaresthe LORD.
"She will beara Son;and you shall callHis nameJesus,for He will saveHis peoplefrom their sins."
But the angelsaidto him, "Do not be afraid,Zacharias,for your petitionhas been heard,and your wifeElizabethwill bearyou a son,and you will givehim the nameJohn.
"And behold,you will conceivein your womband beara son,and you shall nameHim Jesus.
And he askedfor a tabletand wroteas follows,"His nameis John."And they were allastonished.
He broughthim to Jesus.Jesuslookedat him and said,"You are Simonthe sonof John;you shall be calledCephas"(whichis translatedPeter).
Their territorywas to Jezreeland [included] Chesullothand Shunem,
