[The Chaldeans] bringallof them up with a hook,Dragthem awaywith their net,And gatherthem together in their fishingnet.Thereforethey rejoiceand are glad.
He lurksin a hidingplaceas a lionin his lair;He lurksto catchthe afflicted;He catchesthe afflictedwhen he drawshim into his net.
And the fishermenwill lament,And allthose who casta lineinto the Nilewill mourn,And those who spreadnetson the waterswill pineaway.
"Behold,I am going to sendfor manyfishermen,"declaresthe LORD,"and they will fishfor them; and afterwardsI will sendfor manyhunters,and they will huntthem from everymountainand everyhilland from the cleftsof the rocks.
For wickedmenare foundamong My people,They watchlike fowlerslyingin wait;They seta trap,They catchmen.
"Becauseyou are glad,becauseyou are jubilant,O you who pillageMy heritage,Becauseyou skipaboutlike a threshingheiferAnd neighlike stallions,
For thussaysthe LordGOD,"Becauseyou have clappedyour handsand stampedyour feetand rejoicedwith allthe scornof your soulagainstthe landof Israel,
"Sonof man,becauseTyrehas saidconcerningJerusalem,'Aha,the gatewayof the peoplesis broken;it has openedto me. I shall be filled,[now that] she is laidwaste,'
"As you rejoicedover the inheritanceof the houseof Israelbecauseit was desolate,soI will doto you. You will be a desolation,O MountSeir,and allEdom,allof it. Then they will knowthat I am the LORD."'
The LordGODhas swornby His holiness,"Behold,the daysare comingupon you When they will takeyou away with meathooks,And the lastof you with fishhooks.
[Why] have You mademenlike the fishof the sea,Like creepingthingswithouta rulerover them?
"Furthermore,winebetraysthe haughtyman,So that he does not stayat home.He enlargeshis appetitelike Sheol,And he is like death,neversatisfied.He also gathersto himself allnationsAnd collectsto himself allpeoples.
"When anyonehearsthe wordof the kingdomand does not understandit, the evil[one] comesand snatches awaywhathas been sownin his heart.Thisis the one on whom seed was sownbesidethe road.
"However,sothat we do not offendthem, goto the seaand throwin a hook,and takethe firstfishthat comesup; and when you openits mouth,you will finda shekel.Takethat and giveit to them for you and Me."
And thosewho dwellon the earth[will] rejoiceoverthem and celebrate;and they will sendgiftsto one another,becausethesetwoprophetstormentedthosewho dwellon the earth.
