Twosonswere bornto Eber;the nameof the one[was] Peleg,for in his daysthe earthwas divided;and his brother'sname[was] Joktan.
Theseare the familiesof the sonsof Noah,according to their genealogies,by their nations;and out of thesethe nationswere separatedon the earthafterthe flood.
The sonsof Javan[were] Elishahand Tarshish,Kittimand Dodanim.
The sonsof Ham[were] Cushand Mizraimand Putand Canaan.
Thesethree[were] the sonsof Noah,and from thesethe wholeearthwas populated.
Now KingAhasueruslaida tributeon the landand on the coastlandsof the sea.
Let the kingsof Tarshishand of the islandsbringpresents;The kingsof Shebaand Sebaoffergifts.
Then it will happenon that daythat the LordWill againrecoverthe secondtimewith His handThe remnantof His people,whowill remain,From Assyria,Egypt,Pathros,Cush,Elam,Shinar,Hamath,And from the islandsof the sea.
Thereforeglorifythe LORDin the east,The nameof the LORD,the Godof Israel,In the coastlandsof the sea.
Behold,the nationsare like a dropfrom a bucket,And are regardedas a speckof duston the scales;Behold,He liftsup the islandslike finedust.
The coastlandshave seenand are afraid;The endsof the earthtremble;They have drawnnearand have come.
Singto the LORDa newsong,[Sing] His praisefrom the endof the earth!You who godownto the sea,and allthat is in it. You islands,and those who dwellon them.
"He will not be disheartenedor crushedUntilHe has establishedjusticein the earth;And the coastlandswill waitexpectantlyfor His law."
Listento Me, O islands,And payattention,you peoplesfrom afar.The LORDcalledMe from the womb;From the bodyof My motherHe namedMe.
"My righteousnessis near,My salvationhas goneforth,And My armswill judgethe peoples;The coastlandswill waitfor Me, And for My armthey will waitexpectantly.
Accordingto [their] deeds,soHe will repay,Wrathto His adversaries,recompenseto His enemies;To the coastlandsHe will makerecompense.
"Surelythe coastlandswill waitfor Me; And the shipsof Tarshish[will come] first,To bringyour sonsfrom afar,Their silverand their goldwith them, For the nameof the LORDyour God,And for the HolyOneof IsraelbecauseHe has glorifiedyou.
"For crossto the coastlandsof Kittimand see,And sendto Kedarand observecloselyAnd seeifthere has beensuch [a thing] as this!
and allthe kingsof Tyre,allthe kingsof Sidonand the kingsof the coastlandswhichare beyondthe sea;
Thussaysthe LordGODto Tyre,"Shall not the coastlandsshakeat the soundof your fallwhen the woundedgroan,when the slaughteroccursin your midst?
Nowthe coastlandswill trembleOn the dayof your fall;Yes, the coastlandswhichare by the seaWill be terrifiedat your passing.'"
"Then he will turnhis faceto the coastlandsand capturemany.But a commanderwill puta stopto his scornagainst him; moreover,he will repayhim for his scorn.
The LORDwill be terrifyingto them, for He will starveallthe godsof the earth;and allthe coastlandsof the nationswill bowdownto Him, everyonefrom his [own] place.
