Therefore,thussaysthe LordGOD,"Woeto the bloodycity,To the potin whichthere is rustAnd whose rusthas not goneout of it! Takeout of it pieceafter piece,Withoutmakinga choice.
He defeatedMoab,and measuredthem with the line,making them liedownon the ground;and he measuredtwolinesto putto deathand one fulllineto keepalive.And the Moabitesbecameservantsto David,bringingtribute.
Moreover,Manassehshedverymuchinnocentblooduntilhe had filledJerusalemfrom oneendto another;besideshis sinwith whichhe made Judahsin,in doingevilin the sightof the LORD.
Surelyat the commandof the LORDit cameupon Judah,to remove[them] from His sightbecause of the sinsof Manasseh,according to allthat he had done,
and alsofor the innocentbloodwhichhe shed,for he filledJerusalemwith innocentblood;and the LORDwouldnot forgive.
"Althoughyou washyourself with lyeAnd usemuchsoap,The stainof your iniquityis beforeMe," declaresthe LordGOD.
The bellowsblowfiercely,The leadis consumedby the fire;In vainthe refininggoeson, But the wickedare not separated.
"This[city] will not be a potfor you, norwill you be fleshin the midstof it, [but] I will judgeyou to the borderof Israel.
who say,Is not [the time] nearto buildhouses?This[city] is the potand we are the flesh.'
"In you they have takenbribesto shedblood;you have takeninterestand profits,and you have injuredyour neighborsfor gainby oppression,and you have forgottenMe," declaresthe LordGOD.
"And you, sonof man,will you judge,will you judgethe bloodycity?Then cause her to knowallher abominations.
"Her princeswithinher are like wolvestearingthe prey,by sheddingblood[and] destroyinglivesin orderto getdishonestgain.
"You shall say,'Thussaysthe LordGOD,"A citysheddingbloodin her midst,so that her timewill come,and that makesidols,contraryto her [interest], for defilement!
"Speaka parableto the rebellioushouseand sayto them, 'Thussaysthe LordGOD,"Puton the pot,put[it] on and alsopourwaterin it;
Therefore,thussaysthe LordGOD,"Woeto the bloodycity!I alsowill makethe pilegreat.
"They have also castlotsfor My people,Tradeda boyfor a harlotAnd solda girlfor winethat they may drink.
"On the daythat you stoodaloof,On the daythat strangerscarriedoffhis wealth,And foreignersenteredhis gateAnd castlotsfor Jerusalem--You toowere as oneof them.
Eachmansaidto his mate,"Come,let us castlotsso we may learnon whoseaccountthiscalamity[has struck] us." So they castlotsand the lotfellon Jonah.
The godlypersonhas perishedfrom the land,And thereis noupright[person] among men.Allof them liein waitfor bloodshed;Eachof them huntsthe otherwith a net.
Woeto the bloodycity,completelyfullof lies[and] pillage;[Her] preyneverdeparts.
Yetshe became an exile,She wentinto captivity;Alsoher small childrenwere dashedto piecesAt the headof everystreet;They castlotsfor her honorablemen, And allher greatmenwere boundwith fetters.
sothat upon you may fall[the guilt of] allthe righteousbloodshedon earth,from the bloodof righteousAbelto the bloodof Zechariah,the sonof Berechiah,whomyou murderedbetweenthe templeand the altar.
and you shall havea spadeamongyour tools,and it shall be when you sitdownoutside,you shall digwith it and shall turnto coverup your excrement.
Then Joshuasaid,"Openthe mouthof the caveand bringthesefivekingsout to me from the cave."
And I sawthe womandrunkwith the bloodof the saints,and with the bloodof the witnessesof Jesus.When I sawher, I wonderedgreatly.
"And in her was foundthe bloodof prophetsand of saintsand of allwho have been slainon the earth."
