"You shall offerup in smokethe wholeramon the altar;it is a burntofferingto the LORD:it is a soothingaroma,an offeringby fireto the LORD.
Then Abrahamraisedhis eyesand looked,and behold,behind[him] a ramcaughtin the thicketby his horns;and Abrahamwentand tookthe ramand offeredhim up for a burntofferingin the placeof his son.
He said,"Takenowyour son,your onlyson, whomyou love,Isaac,and goto the landof Moriah,and offerhim thereas a burntofferingon oneof the mountainsof whichI will tellyou."
Isaacspoketo Abrahamhis fatherand said,"My father!"And he said,"HereI am, my son."And he said,"Behold,the fireand the wood,but whereis the lambfor the burntoffering?"
Then Noahbuiltan altarto the LORD,and tookof everycleananimaland of everycleanbirdand offeredburntofferingson the altar.
The LORDsmelledthe soothingaroma;and the LORDsaidto Himself,"I will neveragaincursethe groundon accountof man,for the intentof man'sheartis evilfrom his youth;and I will neveragaindestroyeverylivingthing,as I have done.
Then the fireof the LORDfelland consumedthe burntofferingand the woodand the stonesand the dust,and lickedup the waterthat was in the trench.
The kingwentto Gibeonto sacrificethere,for that was the greathighplace;Solomonoffereda thousandburntofferingson that altar.
"I do not reproveyou for your sacrifices,And your burntofferingsare continuallybeforeMe.
"Then you shall cutthe raminto its pieces,and washits entrailsand its legs,and put[them] with its piecesand its head.
"You shall takethem from their hands,and offerthem up in smokeon the altaron the burntofferingfor a soothingaromabeforethe LORD;it is an offeringby fireto the LORD.
"Whatare your multipliedsacrificesto Me?" Saysthe LORD."I have hadenoughof burntofferingsof ramsAnd the fatof fedcattle;And I takenopleasurein the bloodof bulls,lambsor goats.
"For whatpurposedoes frankincensecometo Me from ShebaAnd the sweetcanefrom a distantland?Your burntofferingsare not acceptableAnd your sacrificesare not pleasingto Me."
Then he shall tearit by its wings,[but] shall not sever[it]. And the priestshall offerit up in smokeon the altaron the woodwhichis on the fire;it is a burntoffering,an offeringby fireof a soothingaromato the LORD.
Its entrails,however, and its legshe shall washwith water.And the priestshall offerup in smokeallof it on the altarfor a burntoffering,an offeringby fireof a soothingaromato the LORD.
Then he shall removeallits fat,justas the fatwas removedfrom the sacrificeof peaceofferings;and the priestshall offerit up in smokeon the altarfor a soothingaromato the LORD.Thus the priestshall makeatonementfor him, and he will be forgiven.
After he had washedthe entrailsand the legswith water,Mosesofferedup the wholeramin smokeon the altar.It was a burntofferingfor a soothingaroma;it was an offeringby fireto the LORD,justas the LORDhad commandedMoses.
Then firecameout from beforethe LORDand consumedthe burntofferingand the portionsof faton the altar;and when allthe peoplesaw[it], they shoutedand fellon their faces.
AND TO LOVEHIM WITH ALLTHE HEARTAND WITH ALLTHE UNDERSTANDINGAND WITH ALLTHE STRENGTH,AND TO LOVEONE'S NEIGHBORAS HIMSELF,is much morethan allburnt offeringsand sacrifices."
and walkin love,justas Christalsolovedyou and gaveHimselfup for us, an offeringand a sacrificeto Godas a fragrantaroma.
But I have receivedeverythingin fulland have an abundance;I am amply supplied,having receivedfrom Epaphrodituswhat you have sent,a fragrantaroma,an acceptablesacrifice,well-pleasingto God.
Samueltooka sucklinglamband offeredit for a wholeburntofferingto the LORD;and Samuelcriedto the LORDfor Israeland the LORDansweredhim.
