I have seeneverythingduring my lifetimeof futility;thereis a righteousmanwho perishesin his righteousnessand thereis a wickedmanwho prolongs[his life] in his wickedness.
So Jacobsaidto Pharaoh,"The yearsof my sojourningare one hundredand thirty;fewand unpleasanthave beenthe yearsof my life,norhave they attainedthe yearsthat my fatherslivedduring the daysof their sojourning."
Then the twoworthlessmencamein and satbeforehim; and the worthlessmentestifiedagainst him, even against Naboth,beforethe people,saying,"NabothcursedGodand the king."So they tookhim outsidethe cityand stonedhim to deathwith stones.
For the wickedboastsof his heart'sdesire,And the greedymancurses[and] spurnsthe LORD.
"Surelyeverymanwalksabout as a phantom;Surelythey makean uproarfor nothing;He amasses[riches] and does not knowwhowill gatherthem.
Becauseallhis dayshis taskis painfuland grievous;evenat nighthis minddoes not rest.Thistoois vanity.
Furthermore,I have seenunderthe sun[that] in the placeof justicethereis wickednessand in the placeof righteousnessthereis wickedness.
For whoknowswhatis goodfor a manduring [his] lifetime,[during] the fewyearsof his futilelife?He will spendthem like a shadow.For whocan tella manwhatwill be afterhim underthe sun?
Enjoylifewith the womanwhomyou loveallthe daysof your fleetinglifewhichHe has givento you underthe sun; for thisis your rewardin lifeand in your toilin whichyou have laboredunderthe sun.
"Nolongerwill there be in it an infant[who lives but a few] days,Or an oldmanwhodoes not liveout his days;For the youthwill dieat the ageof one hundredAnd the one who does not reachthe ageof one hundredWill be [thought] accursed.
"They will makeyou outcasts from the synagogue,but an houris comingfor everyonewho killsyou to thinkthat he is offeringserviceto God.
"Which oneof the prophetsdid your fathersnot persecute?They killedthosewho had previously announcedthe comingof the Righteous One,whosebetrayersand murderersyou have nowbecome;
