"ThenDaniel,whosenameis Belteshazzar,was appalledfor a whileas his thoughtsalarmedhim. The kingrespondedand said,'Belteshazzar,do not let the dreamor its interpretationalarmyou.' Belteshazzarreplied,My lord,[if only] the dreamapplied to those who hateyou and its interpretationto your adversaries!
She saidto her father,"Let not my lordbe angrythat I cannotrisebeforeyou, for the mannerof womenis upon me." So he searchedbut did not findthe householdidols.
then you shall say,'[These] belong to your servantJacob;it is a presentsentto my lordEsau.And behold,he alsois behindus.'"
Then Josephsaidto him, "Thisis the interpretationof it: the threebranchesare threedays;
Now as Obadiahwas on the way,behold,Elijahmethim, and he recognizedhim and fellon his faceand said,"Is thisyou, Elijahmy master?"
"But now,ifYou will, forgivetheir sin--and ifnot, pleaseblotme out from Your bookwhichYou have written!"
Seekthe welfareof the citywhereI have sentyou into exile,and prayto the LORDon its behalf;for in its welfareyou will havewelfare.'
My soul,my soul!I am in anguish!Oh,my heart!My heartis poundingin me; I cannotbe silent,Becauseyou have heard,O my soul,The soundof the trumpet,The alarmof war.
Then the commanderof the officialsassigned[new] namesto them; and to Danielhe assigned[the name] Belteshazzar,to HananiahShadrach,to MishaelMeshachand to AzariahAbed-nego.
The kingsaidto Daniel,whosenamewas Belteshazzar,"Are you ableto makeknownto me the dreamwhichI have seenand its interpretation?"
"You, O king,are the kingof kings,to whomthe Godof heavenhas giventhe kingdom,the power,the strengthand the glory;
thisis the interpretation,O king,and thisis the decreeof the MostHigh,whichhas comeupon my lordthe king:
"[This was] becausean extraordinaryspirit,knowledgeand insight,interpretationof dreams,explanationof enigmasand solvingof difficultproblemswere foundin this Daniel,whomthe kingnamedBelteshazzar.Let Danielnowbe summonedand he will declarethe interpretation."
"O king,the MostHighGodgrantedsovereignty,grandeur,gloryand majestyto Nebuchadnezzaryour father.
"Becauseof the grandeurwhichHe bestowedon him, allthe peoples,nationsand [men of every] languagefearedand trembledbeforehim; whomeverhe wishedhe killedand whomeverhe wishedhe sparedalive;and whomeverhe wishedhe elevatedand whomeverhe wishedhe humbled.
"As for me, Daniel,my spiritwas distressedwithinme, and the visionsin my mindkept alarmingme.
"At thispointthe revelationended.As for me, Daniel,my thoughtswere greatlyalarmingme and my facegrewpale,but I keptthe matterto myself."
Then I, Daniel,was exhaustedand sickfor days.Then I gotup [again] and carriedon the king'sbusiness;but I was astoundedat the vision,and therewas noneto explain[it].
The mountainssawYou [and] quaked;The downpourof waterssweptby. The deeputteredforthits voice,It liftedhighits hands.
But Hannahreplied,"No,my lord,I am a womanoppressedin spirit;I have drunkneitherwinenorstrongdrink,but I have pouredout my soulbeforethe LORD.
Now afterwardDavidaroseand wentout of the caveand calledafterSaul,saying,"My lordthe king!"And when Saullookedbehindhim, Davidbowedwith his faceto the groundand prostratedhimself.
So Davidsaidto Abner,"Are you not a man?And whois likeyou in Israel?Whythen have you not guardedyour lordthe king?For oneof the peoplecameto destroythe kingyour lord.
He said,"Whatis the wordthat He spoketo you? Pleasedo not hideit from me. May Goddosoto you, and morealso,ifyou hideanythingfrom me of allthe wordsthat He spoketo you."
