Then it happenedin the spring,at the timewhen kingsgoout [to battle], that DavidsentJoaband his servantswith him and allIsrael,and they destroyedthe sonsof Ammonand besiegedRabbah.But Davidstayedat Jerusalem.
Now Joabfoughtagainst Rabbahof the sonsof Ammonand capturedthe royalcity.
He also broughtout the peoplewhowere in it, and set[them] under saws,sharpironinstruments,and ironaxes,and made them passthrough the brickkiln.And thushe didto allthe citiesof the sonsof Ammon.Then Davidand allthe peoplereturned[to] Jerusalem.
Then it happenedin the spring,at the timewhen kingsgoout [to battle], that Joabledout the armyand ravagedthe landof the sonsof Ammon,and cameand besiegedRabbah.But Davidstayedat Jerusalem.And JoabstruckRabbahand overthrewit.
"As oftenas the trumpet[sounds] he says,'Aha!'And he scentsthe battlefrom afar,And the thunderof the captainsand the warcry.
Sopursuethem with Your tempestAnd terrifythem with Your storm.
From the LORDof hostsyou will be punishedwith thunderand earthquakeand loudnoise,[With] whirlwindand tempestand the flameof a consumingfire.
And the LORDwill cause His voiceof authorityto be heard,And the descendingof His armto be seenin fierceanger,And [in] the flameof a consumingfireIn cloudburst,downpourand hailstones.
For everybootof the bootedwarriorin the [battle] tumult,And cloakrolledin blood,will be for burning,fuelfor the fire.
"Behold,the stormof the LORDhas goneforthin wrath,Even a whirlingtempest;It will swirldownon the headof the wicked.
"Thereforebehold,the daysare coming,"declaresthe LORD,"That I will cause a trumpetblastof warto be heardAgainstRabbahof the sonsof Ammon;And it will becomea desolateheap,And her townswill be seton fire.Then Israelwill takepossessionof his possessors,"Saysthe LORD.
"You shall marka wayfor the swordto cometo Rabbahof the sonsof Ammon,and to Judahinto fortifiedJerusalem.
"Into his righthandcamethe divination,'Jerusalem,'to setbatteringrams,to openthe mouthfor slaughter,to liftup the voicewith a battlecry,to setbatteringramsagainstthe gates,to castup ramps,to builda siegewall.
And you, O slain,wickedone,the princeof Israel,whosedayhas come,in the timeof the punishmentof the end,'
"I will makeRabbaha pasturefor camelsand the sonsof Ammona restingplacefor flocks.Thus you will knowthat I am the LORD."
therefore,behold,I have stretchedout My handagainstyou and I will giveyou for spoilto the nations.And I will cutyou offfrom the peoplesand make you perishfrom the lands;I will destroyyou. Thus you will knowthat I am the LORD."
"At the endtimethe kingof the Southwill collidewith him, and the kingof the Northwill stormagainsthim with chariots,with horsemenand with manyships;and he will entercountries,overflow[them] and passthrough.
"So I will sendfireupon MoabAnd it will consumethe citadelsof Kerioth;And Moabwill dieamid tumult,With warcriesand the soundof a trumpet.
"but I scatteredthem with a stormwindamongallthe nationswhomthey have not known.Thus the landis desolatedbehindthem sothat noone wentbackand forth,for they madethe pleasantlanddesolate."
