He aroseand struckthe Philistinesuntilhis handwas wearyand clungto the sword,and the LORDbroughtabouta greatvictorythat day;and the peoplereturnedafterhim onlyto strip[the slain].
But he tookhis standin the midstof the plot,defendedit and struckthe Philistines;and the LORDbroughtabouta greatvictory.
Now Naaman,captainof the armyof the kingof Aram,was a greatmanwith his master,and highly respected,becauseby him the LORDhad givenvictoryto Aram.The manwas also a valiantwarrior,[but he was] a leper.
He was with Davidat Pasdammimwhen the Philistineswere gatheredtogether thereto battle,and there was a plotof groundfullof barley;and the peoplefledbeforethe Philistines.
Through Godwe will dovaliantly,And it is He who shall treaddownour adversaries.
Who givessalvationto kings,Who rescuesDavidHis servantfrom the evilsword.
"Kingsof armiesflee,they flee,And she whoremainsat homewill dividethe spoil!"
Therefore,I will allotHim a portionwith the great,And He will dividethe bootywith the strong;BecauseHe pouredout Himselfto death,And was numberedwith the transgressors;Yet He Himselfborethe sinof many,And intercededfor the transgressors.
For I will not presumeto speakof anythingexceptwhatChristhas accomplishedthroughme, resultingin the obedienceof the Gentilesby wordand deed,
For we do not preachourselvesbut ChristJesusas Lord,and ourselvesas your bond-servantsfor Jesus'sake.
And the LORDconfoundedthem beforeIsrael,and He slewthem with a greatslaughterat Gibeon,and pursuedthem by the wayof the ascentof Beth-horonand struckthem as faras Azekahand Makkedah.
Joshuacapturedallthesekingsand their landsat onetime,becausethe LORD,the Godof Israel,foughtfor Israel.
The LORDdeliveredthem into the handof Israel,so that they defeatedthem, and pursuedthem as faras GreatSidonand Misrephoth-maimand the valleyof Mizpehto the east;and they struckthem untilnosurvivorwas leftto them.
When he cameto Lehi,the Philistinesshoutedas they methim. And the Spiritof the LORDcameupon him mightilyso that the ropesthat were on his armswere as flaxthat is burnedwith fire,and his bondsdroppedfrom his hands.
Then he becameverythirsty,and he calledto the LORDand said,"You have giventhisgreatdeliveranceby the handof Your servant,and nowshall I dieof thirstand fallinto the handsof the uncircumcised?"
But Saulsaid,"Not a manshall be putto deaththisday,for todaythe LORDhas accomplisheddeliverancein Israel."
So the LORDdeliveredIsraelthat day,and the battlespreadbeyondBeth-aven.
Then Jonathansaidto the youngmanwho was carryinghis armor,"Comeand let us crossoverto the garrisonof theseuncircumcised;perhapsthe LORDwill workfor us, for the LORDis not restrainedto saveby manyorby few."
The sonsof Israelreturnedfrom chasingthe Philistinesand plunderedtheir camps.
"For he tookhis lifein his handand struckthe Philistine,and the LORDbroughtabouta greatdeliverancefor allIsrael;you saw[it] and rejoiced.Whythen will you sinagainst innocentbloodby puttingDavidto deathwithouta cause?"
