Now Absalomin his lifetimehad takenand setup for himself a pillarwhichis in the King'sValley,for he said,"I havenosonto preservemy name."So he namedthe pillarafterhis own name,and it is calledAbsalom'sMonumentto thisday.
They said,"Come,let us buildfor ourselves a city,and a towerwhose top[will reach] into heaven,and let us makefor ourselves a name,otherwisewe will be scatteredabroad overthe faceof the wholeearth."
Thereforeits namewas calledBabel,becausetherethe LORDconfusedthe languageof the wholeearth;and from therethe LORDscatteredthem abroad overthe faceof the wholeearth.
Then afterhis returnfrom the defeatof Chedorlaomerand the kingswhowere with him, the kingof Sodomwentout to meethim at the valleyof Shaveh(that is, the King'sValley).
