Now Absalomin his lifetimehad takenand setup for himself a pillarwhichis in the King'sValley,for he said,"I havenosonto preservemy name."So he namedthe pillarafterhis own name,and it is calledAbsalom'sMonumentto thisday.
They said,"Come,let us buildfor ourselves a city,and a towerwhose top[will reach] into heaven,and let us makefor ourselves a name,otherwisewe will be scatteredabroad overthe faceof the wholeearth."
Thereforeits namewas calledBabel,becausetherethe LORDconfusedthe languageof the wholeearth;and from therethe LORDscatteredthem abroad overthe faceof the wholeearth.
