Now when the attendantof the manof Godhad risenearlyand goneout, behold,an armywith horsesand chariotswas circlingthe city.And his servantsaidto him, "Alas,my master!Whatshall we do?"
So he returnedfrom followinghim, and tookthe pairof oxenand sacrificedthem and boiledtheir fleshwith the implementsof the oxen,and gave[it] to the peopleand they ate.Then he aroseand followedElijahand ministeredto him.
But Jehoshaphatsaid,"Is therenot a prophetof the LORDhere,that we may inquireof the LORDby him?" And oneof the kingof Israel'sservantsansweredand said,"Elishathe sonof Shaphatis here,whoused to pourwateron the handsof Elijah."
But Gehazi,the servantof Elishathe manof God,thought,"Behold,my masterhas sparedthisNaamanthe Aramean,by not receivingfrom his handswhathe brought.As the LORDlives,I will runafterhim and takesomethingfrom him."
"Therefore, the leprosyof Naamanshall clingto you and to your descendantsforever."So he wentout from his presencea leper[as white] as snow.
He senthorsesand chariotsand a greatarmythere,and they cameby nightand surroundedthe city.
So he answered,"Do not fear,for those whoare with us are morethanthose whoare with them."
But as onewas fellinga beam,the axeheadfellinto the water;and he criedout and said,"Alas,my master!For it was borrowed."
"O our God,will You not judgethem? For we are powerlessbeforethisgreatmultitudewho are comingagainstus; nordo we knowwhatto do,but our eyesare on You."
Therethey were in greatfear[where] nofearhad been;For Godscatteredthe bonesof him who encampedagainst you; You put[them] to shame,becauseGodhad rejectedthem.
So Mosesarosewith Joshuahis servant,and Moseswentup to the mountainof God.
He saidto them, "Whyare you afraid,you men of little faith?"ThenHe gotup and rebukedthe windsand the sea,and it becameperfectlycalm.
When they reachedSalamis,they [began] to proclaimthe wordof Godin the synagoguesof the Jews;and they alsohadJohnas their helper.
