He said,"All is well.My masterhas sentme, saying,'Behold,justnowtwoyoungmenof the sonsof the prophetshave cometo me from the hillcountryof Ephraim.Pleasegivethem a talentof silverand twochangesof clothes.'"
He saidto him, "I alsoam a prophetlikeyou, and an angelspoketo me by the wordof the LORD,saying,'Bringhim backwith you to your house,that he may eatbreadand drinkwater.'"[But] he liedto him.
Now a certainmanof the sonsof the prophetssaidto anotherby the wordof the LORD,"Pleasestrikeme." But the manrefusedto strikehim.
As the kingpassedby, he criedto the kingand said,"Your servantwentout into the midstof the battle;and behold,a manturnedasideand broughta manto me and said,'Guardthisman;iffor anyreasonhe is missing,then your lifeshall be for his life,orelse you shall paya talentof silver.'
Now when the sonsof the prophetswho[were] at Jerichoopposite[him] sawhim, they said,"The spiritof Elijahrestson Elisha."And they cameto meethim and bowedthemselves to the groundbefore him.
Then the sonsof the prophetswho[were at] Bethelcameout to Elishaand saidto him, "Do you knowthat the LORDwill takeaway your masterfrom overyou today?"And he said,"Yes,I know;be still."
The sonsof the prophetswho[were] at JerichoapproachedElishaand saidto him, "Do you knowthat the LORDwill takeaway your masterfrom overyou today?"And he answered,"Yes,I know;be still."
Now fiftymenof the sonsof the prophetswentand stoodopposite[them] at a distance,while the twoof them stoodby the Jordan.
"Pleaserunnowto meether and sayto her, 'Is it wellwith you? Is it wellwith your husband?Is it wellwith the child?'"And she answered,"It is well."
So GehazipursuedNaaman.When Naamansawone runningafterhim, he camedownfrom the chariotto meethim and said,"Is all well?"
But he wentin and stoodbeforehis master.And Elishasaidto him, "Wherehave you been, Gehazi?"And he said,"Your servantwentnowhere."
Then the kingof Aramsaid,"Gonow,and I will senda letterto the kingof Israel."He departedand tookwith him tentalentsof silverand sixthousand[shekels] of goldand tenchangesof clothes.
For your handsare defiledwith bloodAnd your fingerswith iniquity;Your lipshave spokenfalsehood,Your tonguemutterswickedness.
"They bendtheir tongue[like] their bow;Liesand not truthprevailin the land;For they proceedfrom evilto evil,And they do not knowMe," declaresthe LORD.
"Everyonedeceiveshis neighborAnd does not speakthe truth,They have taughttheir tongueto speaklies;They wearythemselves committinginiquity.
"You are of [your] fatherthe devil,and you wantto dothe desiresof your father.He was a murdererfrom the beginning,and does not standin the truthbecausethere is notruthin him. Wheneverhe speaksa lie,he speaksfrom his own[nature], for he is a liarand the fatherof lies.
And Eleazarthe sonof Aarondied;and they buriedhim at Gibeahof Phinehashis son,whichwas givenhim in the hillcountryof Ephraim.
"But for the cowardlyand unbelievingand abominableand murderersand immoral personsand sorcerersand idolatersand allliars,their part[will be] in the lakethat burnswith fireand brimstone,whichis the seconddeath."
Then Samsonsaidto them, "Let me nowpropounda riddleto you; ifyou will indeedtellit to me within the sevendaysof the feast,and findit out, then I will giveyou thirtylinenwrapsand thirtychangesof clothes.
