Then he tookhis oldestsonwhowas to reignin his place,and offeredhim as a burntofferingon the wall.And there camegreatwrathagainstIsrael,and they departedfrom him and returnedto their own land.
Then Abrahamraisedhis eyesand looked,and behold,behind[him] a ramcaughtin the thicketby his horns;and Abrahamwentand tookthe ramand offeredhim up for a burntofferingin the placeof his son.
He said,"Takenowyour son,your onlyson, whomyou love,Isaac,and goto the landof Moriah,and offerhim thereas a burntofferingon oneof the mountainsof whichI will tellyou."
Now behold,a prophetapproachedAhabkingof Israeland said,"Thussaysthe LORD,'Have you seenallthisgreatmultitude?Behold,I will deliverthem into your handtoday,and you shall knowthat I am the LORD.'"
Then a manof Godcamenearand spoketo the kingof Israeland said,"Thussaysthe LORD,'Becausethe Arameanshave said,"The LORDis a godof [the] mountains,but He is not a godof [the] valleys,"therefore I will giveallthisgreatmultitudeinto your hand,and you shall knowthat I am the LORD.'"
So the kingof Israelwentto his housesullenand vexed,and cameto Samaria.
When the kingof Moabsawthat the battlewas toofiercefor him, he tookwith him 700menwho drewswords,to breakthroughto the kingof Edom;but they couldnot.
"Moreover, you tookyour sonsand daughterswhomyou had borneto Me and sacrificedthem to idols to be devoured.Were your harlotriessosmalla matter?
Thussaysthe LORD,"For threetransgressionsof Moaband for fourI will not revokeits [punishment], Becausehe burnedthe bonesof the kingof Edomto lime.
Does the LORDtakedelightin thousandsof rams,In tenthousandriversof oil?Shall I presentmy firstborn[for] my rebelliousacts,The fruitof my bodyfor the sinof my soul?
"You shall not behavethustoward the LORDyour God,for everyabominableactwhichthe LORDhatesthey have donefor their gods;for they evenburntheir sonsand daughtersin the fireto their gods.
then it shall be that whatevercomesout of the doorsof my houseto meetme when I returnin peacefrom the sonsof Ammon,it shall be the LORD'S,and I will offerit up as a burntoffering."
At the endof twomonthsshe returnedto her father,who didto her according to the vowwhichhe had made;and she hadnorelationswith a man.Thus it becamea customin Israel,
