Someof your sonswhoshall issuefrom you, whomyou will beget,will be takenaway; and they will becomeofficialsin the palaceof the kingof Babylon.'"
And Nebuchadnezzarthe kingof Babyloncameto the city,while his servantswere besiegingit.
Now it cameabout in the thirty-seventhyearof the exileof Jehoiachinkingof Judah,in the twelfthmonth,on the twenty-seventh[day] of the month,that Evil-merodachkingof Babylon,in the yearthat he becameking,releasedJehoiachinkingof Judahfrom prison;
Now on the seventhday of the fifthmonth,whichwas the nineteenthyearof KingNebuchadnezzar,kingof Babylon,Nebuzaradanthe captainof the guard,a servantof the kingof Babylon,cameto Jerusalem.
At the turnof the yearKingNebuchadnezzarsentand broughthim to Babylonwith the valuablearticlesof the houseof the LORD,and he madehis kinsmanZedekiahkingoverJudahand Jerusalem.
[Now] there was at the citadelin Susaa Jewwhose namewas Mordecai,the sonof Jair,the sonof Shimei,the sonof Kish,a Benjamite,
whohad been takeninto exilefrom Jerusalemwith the captiveswhohad been exiledwith Jeconiahkingof Judah,whomNebuchadnezzarthe kingof Babylonhad exiled.
Therefore,a cursedevoursthe earth,and those who livein it are heldguilty.Therefore,the inhabitantsof the earthare burned,and fewmenare left.
Sayto the kingand the queenmother,"Takea lowlyseat,For your beautifulcrownHas comedownfrom your head."
AfterNebuchadnezzarkingof Babylonhad carriedawaycaptiveJeconiahthe sonof Jehoiakim,kingof Judah,and the officialsof Judahwith the craftsmenand smithsfrom Jerusalemand had broughtthem to Babylon,the LORDshowedme: behold,twobasketsof figssetbeforethe templeof the LORD!
The wordthat cameto Jeremiahconcerningallthe peopleof Judah,in the fourthyearof Jehoiakimthe sonof Josiah,kingof Judah(that was the firstyearof Nebuchadnezzarkingof Babylon),
whichNebuchadnezzarkingof Babylondid not takewhen he carriedinto exileJeconiahthe sonof Jehoiakim,kingof Judah,from Jerusalemto Babylon,and allthe noblesof Judahand Jerusalem.
Thereforethussaysthe LORDconcerningJehoiakimkingof Judah,"He shall havenoone to siton the throneof David,and his deadbodyshall be castout to the heatof the dayand the frostof the night.
Now Zedekiahthe sonof JosiahwhomNebuchadnezzarkingof Babylonhad madekingin the landof Judah,reignedas kingin placeof Coniahthe sonof Jehoiakim.
Now on the tenth[day] of the fifthmonth,whichwas the nineteenthyearof KingNebuchadnezzar,kingof Babylon,Nebuzaradanthe captainof the bodyguard,who was in the serviceof the kingof Babylon,cameto Jerusalem.
Theseare the peoplewhomNebuchadnezzarcarriedawayinto exile:in the seventhyear3023Jews;
Now it cameabout in the thirty-seventhyearof the exileof Jehoiachinkingof Judah,in the twelfthmonth,on the twenty-fifthof the month,that Evil-merodachkingof Babylon,in the [first] yearof his reign,showedfavorto Jehoiachinkingof Judahand broughthim out of prison.
(On the fifthof the monthin the fifthyearof KingJehoiachin'sexile,
"Saynowto the rebellioushouse,Do you not knowwhatthesethings[mean]?' Say,'Behold,the kingof Babyloncameto Jerusalem,tookits kingand princesand broughtthem to him in Babylon.
"He pluckedoffthe topmostof its youngtwigsand broughtit to a landof merchants;he setit in a cityof traders.
"As for you, takeup a lamentationfor the princesof Israel
And nowit is plantedin the wilderness,In a dryand thirstyland.
"The LORDwill bringyou and your king,whomyou setoveryou, to a nationwhichneitheryou noryour fathershave known,and thereyou shall serveothergods,woodand stone.
