ThenSolomonbuilta highplacefor Chemoshthe detestableidolof Moab,on the mountainwhichis eastof Jerusalem,and for Molechthe detestableidolof the sonsof Ammon.
But he walkedin the wayof the kingsof Israel,and evenmade his sonpassthrough the fire,according to the abominationsof the nationswhomthe LORDhad drivenout from beforethe sonsof Israel.
Then they made their sonsand their daughterspassthrough the fire,and practiceddivinationand enchantments,and soldthemselves to doevilin the sightof the LORD,provokingHim.

Zanoah,Adullam,and their villages,Lachishand its fields,Azekahand its towns.So they encampedfrom Beershebaas faras the valleyof Hinnom.
For Tophethhas longbeen ready,Indeed,it has been preparedfor the king.He has madeit deepand large,A pyreof firewith plentyof wood;The breathof the LORD,like a torrentof brimstone,setsit afire.
[Who] inflameyourselves among the oaks,Undereveryluxurianttree,Who slaughterthe childrenin the ravines,Underthe cleftsof the crags?
"Then goout to the valleyof Ben-hinnom,whichis by the entranceof the potsherdgate,and proclaimtherethe wordsthat I tellyou,
"Becausethey have forsakenMe and have madethisan alienplaceand have burnedsacrificesin it to othergods,that neitherthey northeir forefathersnorthe kingsof Judahhad [ever] known,and [because] they have filledthisplacewith the bloodof the innocent
therefore,behold,daysare coming,"declaresthe LORD,"when thisplacewill nolongerbe calledTophethor the valleyof Ben-hinnom,but ratherthe valleyof Slaughter.
"They builtthe highplacesof Baalthat are in the valleyof Ben-hinnomto cause their sonsand their daughtersto passthrough[the fire] to Molech,whichI had not commandedthem norhad it enteredMy mindthat they should dothisabomination,to cause Judahto sin.
"You slaughteredMy childrenand offeredthem up to idols by causing them to passthrough[the fire].
and I pronouncedthem uncleanbecause of their gifts,in that they caused alltheir firstbornto passthrough[the fire] sothat I might makethem desolate,in orderthat they might knowthat I am the LORD."'
"When you offeryour gifts,when you cause your sonsto passthrough the fire,you are defilingyourselves with allyour idolsto this day.And shall I be inquiredof by you, O houseof Israel?As I live,"declaresthe LordGOD,"I will not be inquiredof by you.
You shall not giveanyof your offspringto offerthem to Molech,norshall you profanethe nameof your God;I am the LORD.
"But I sayto you that everyonewho is angrywith his brothershall be guiltybefore the court;and whoeversaysto his brother,You good-for-nothing,'shall be guiltybefore the supreme court;and whoeversays,'You fool,'shall be guilty[enough to go] into the fieryhell.
"There shall not be foundamong you anyone who makes his sonor his daughterpassthrough the fire,one who usesdivination,one who practiceswitchcraft,or one who interpretsomens,or a sorcerer,
Then the borderwentup the valleyof Ben-hinnomto the slopeof the Jebusiteon the south(that is, Jerusalem);and the borderwentup to the topof the mountainwhichis beforethe valleyof Hinnomto the west,whichis at the endof the valleyof Rephaimtoward the north.
The borderwentdownto the edgeof the hillwhichis in the valleyof Ben-hinnom,whichis in the valleyof Rephaimnorthward;and it wentdownto the valleyof Hinnom,to the slopeof the Jebusitesouthward,and wentdownto En-rogel.
