Moreover,Manassehshedverymuchinnocentblooduntilhe had filledJerusalemfrom oneendto another;besideshis sinwith whichhe made Judahsin,in doingevilin the sightof the LORD.
"BecauseManassehkingof Judahhas donetheseabominations,having donewickedlymorethanallthe Amoritesdidwho[were] beforehim, and has alsomade Judahsinwith his idols;
becausethey have doneevilin My sight,and have beenprovokingMe to angersincethe daytheir fatherscamefrom Egypt,even to thisday.'"
He didevilin the sightof the LORD,according to the abominationsof the nationswhomthe LORDdispossessedbeforethe sonsof Israel.
Then he setthe carvedimageof Asherahthat he had made,in the houseof whichthe LORDsaidto Davidand to his sonSolomon,"In thishouseand in Jerusalem,whichI have chosenfrom allthe tribesof Israel,I will putMy nameforever.
Nevertheless,he clungto the sinsof Jeroboamthe sonof Nebat,whichhe made Israelsin;he did not departfrom them.
Thus ManassehmisledJudahand the inhabitantsof Jerusalemto domoreevilthanthe nationswhomthe LORDdestroyedbeforethe sonsof Israel.
Then Mosessaidto Aaron,"Whatdid thispeopledoto you, that you have brought[such] greatsinupon them?"
Thereare sixthingswhich the LORDhates,Yes, sevenwhich are an abominationto Him:
Haughtyeyes,a lyingtongue,And handsthat shedinnocentblood,
"I will makethem an objectof horroramong allthe kingdomsof the earthbecauseof Manasseh,the sonof Hezekiah,the kingof Judah,for whathe didin Jerusalem.
"Becausethey have forsakenMe and have madethisan alienplaceand have burnedsacrificesin it to othergods,that neitherthey northeir forefathersnorthe kingsof Judahhad [ever] known,and [because] they have filledthisplacewith the bloodof the innocent
"Alsoon your skirtsis foundThe lifebloodof the innocentpoor;You did not findthem breakingin. But in spiteof allthesethings,
"Indeedthiscityhas beento Me [a] [provocation of] My angerand My wrathfrom the daythat they builtit, even to thisday,so that it should be removedfrom beforeMy face,
[if] you do not oppressthe alien,the orphan,or the widow,and do not shedinnocentbloodin thisplace,norwalkafterothergodsto your own ruin,
"And you, sonof man,will you judge,will you judgethe bloodycity?Then cause her to knowallher abominations.
"You have becomeguiltyby the bloodwhichyou have shed,and defiledby your idolswhichyou have made.Thus you have broughtyour daynearand have cometo your years;thereforeI have madeyou a reproachto the nationsand a mockingto allthe lands.
"But they, righteousmen,will judgethem with the judgmentof adulteressesand with the judgmentof women who shedblood,becausethey are adulteressesand bloodis on their hands.
Then He saidto me, "The iniquityof the houseof Israeland Judahis very,verygreat,and the landis filledwith bloodand the cityis fullof perversion;for they say,'The LORDhas forsakenthe land,and the LORDdoes not see!'
So you shall not pollutethe landin whichyou are; for bloodpollutesthe landand noexpiationcan be madefor the landfor the bloodthat is shedon it, exceptby the bloodof him who shedit.
The chief prieststookthe pieces of silverand said,"It is not lawfulto putthem into the temple treasury,sinceit is the priceof blood."
"O Jerusalem,Jerusalem,[the city] that killsthe prophetsand stonesthosesentto her! How oftenI wantedto gatheryour childrentogether,justas a hen[gathers] her broodunderher wings,and you wouldnot [have it]!
They were stoned,they were sawn in two,they were tempted,they were put to deathwith the sword;they went aboutin sheepskins,in goatskins,being destitute,afflicted,ill-treated
