Whomhave you reproachedand blasphemed?And againstwhomhave you raised[your] voice,And haughtilyliftedup your eyes?Againstthe HolyOneof Israel!
Perhapsthe LORDyour Godwill hearallthe wordsof Rabshakeh,whomhis masterthe kingof Assyriahas sentto reproachthe livingGod,and will rebukethe wordswhichthe LORDyour Godhas heard.Therefore, offera prayerfor the remnantthat is left.'"
Isaiahsaidto them, "Thusyou shall sayto your master,'Thussaysthe LORD,"Do not be afraidbecauseof the wordsthat you have heard,with whichthe servantsof the kingof Assyriahave blasphemedMe.
I will alsopraiseYou with a harp,[Even] Your truth,O my God;To You I will singpraiseswith the lyre,O HolyOneof Israel.
They have settheir mouthagainst the heavens,And their tongueparadesthrough the earth.
Againand again they temptedGod,And painedthe HolyOneof Israel.
But Pharaohsaid,"Whois the LORDthat I should obeyHis voiceto letIsraelgo?I do not knowthe LORD,and besides,I will not letIsraelgo."
"Stillyou exaltyourself against My peopleby not lettingthem go.
There is a kind--oh howloftyare his eyes!And his eyelidsare raised[in arrogance].
For he has said,"By the powerof my handand by my wisdomI did[this], For I haveunderstanding;And I removedthe boundariesof the peoplesAnd plunderedtheir treasures,And like a mightymanI broughtdown[their] inhabitants,
Is the axeto boastitself overthe one who chopswith it? Is the sawto exaltitself overthe one who wieldsit? [That would be] like a clubwieldingthose who liftit, [Or] like a rodlifting[him who] is not wood.
For thusthe LordGOD,the HolyOneof Israel,has said,"In repentanceand restyou will be saved,In quietnessand trustis your strength."But you were not willing,
Therefore,as a tongueof fireconsumesstubbleAnd drygrasscollapsesinto the flame,So their rootwill becomelike rotand their blossomblowawayas dust;For they have rejectedthe lawof the LORDof hostsAnd despisedthe wordof the HolyOneof Israel.
For neitherIsraelnorJudahhas been forsakenBy his God,the LORDof hosts,Althoughtheir landis fullof guiltBeforethe HolyOneof Israel.
It evenmagnified[itself] to be equalwith the Commanderof the host;and it removedthe regularsacrificefrom Him, and the placeof His sanctuarywas throwndown.
[We are] destroyingspeculationsand everylofty thingraisedup againstthe knowledgeof God,and [we are] takingeverythoughtcaptiveto the obedienceof Christ,
who opposesand exaltshimself aboveeveryso-calledgodorobject of worship,sothat he takes his seatin the templeof God,displayinghimselfas beingGod.
