Do not be bound togetherwith unbelievers;for whatpartnershiphave righteousnessand lawlessness,orwhatfellowshiphas lightwith darkness?
and I will make you swearby the LORD,the Godof heavenand the Godof earth,that you shall not takea wifefor my sonfrom the daughtersof the Canaanites,amongwhomI live,
Elijahcamenearto allthe peopleand said,"Howlong[will] you hesitatebetweentwoopinions?Ifthe LORDis God,followHim; but ifBaal,followhim." But the peopledid not answerhim a word.
Jehuthe sonof Hananithe seerwentout to meethim and saidto KingJehoshaphat,"Should you helpthe wickedand lovethose who hatethe LORDand so[bring] wrathon yourself from the LORD?
They pledgedto putawaytheir wives,and being guilty,[they offered] a ramof the flockfor their offense.
But they mingledwith the nationsAnd learnedtheir practices,
I am a companionof allthose whofearYou, And of those who keepYour precepts.
As for the saintswhoare in the earth,They are the majesticonesin whom is allmy delight.
and you might takesomeof his daughtersfor your sons,and his daughtersmight playthe harlotwith their godsand cause your sons[also] to playthe harlotwith their gods.
Do not associatewith a man[given] to anger;Or gowith a hot-temperedman,
An unjustmanis abominableto the righteous,And he whois uprightin the wayis abominableto the wicked.
You are to keepMy statutes.You shall not breedtogethertwokindsof your cattle;you shall not sowyour fieldwith twokindsof seed, norweara garmentupon you of twokindsof materialmixedtogether.
"Judahhas dealttreacherously,and an abominationhas been committedin Israeland in Jerusalem;for Judahhas profanedthe sanctuaryof the LORDwhichHe lovesand has marriedthe daughterof a foreigngod.
"But not onehas done[so] who has a remnantof the Spirit.And whatdid [that] one[do] while he was seekinga godlyoffspring?Takeheedthen to your spirit,and let noone dealtreacherouslyagainst the wifeof your youth.
"The worldcannothateyou, but it hatesMe becauseI testifyof it, that its deedsare evil.
When they had been released,they wentto their own[companions] and reportedallthat the chief priestsand the eldershad saidto them.
You cannotdrinkthe cupof the Lordand the cupof demons;you cannotpartakeof the tableof the Lordand the tableof demons.
Do not be deceived:"Badcompanycorruptsgoodmorals."
I wroteyou in my letternot to associatewith immoral people;
but brothergoes to lawwith brother,and that beforeunbelievers?
A wifeis boundas longas her husbandlives;but ifher husbandis dead,she is freeto be marriedto whomshe wishes,onlyin the Lord.
sothat you will proveyourselves to be blamelessand innocent,childrenof Godabove reproachin the midstof a crookedand perversegeneration,amongwhomyou appearas lightsin the world,
You adulteresses,do you not knowthat friendshipwith the worldis hostilitytoward God?Thereforewhoeverwishesto be a friendof the worldmakeshimself an enemyof God.
