Then Davidsaid,"You must not doso,my brothers,with whatthe LORDhas givenus, who has keptus and deliveredinto our handthe bandthat cameagainstus.
and said,"Please,my brothers,do not actwickedly.
Thereforethey offera sacrificeto their netAnd burnincenseto their fishingnet;Becausethrough thesethingstheir catchis large,And their foodis plentiful.
"Brethrenand fathers,hearmy defensewhich I now[offer] to you."
And he said,"Hearme, brethrenand fathers!The Godof gloryappearedto our fatherAbrahamwhen he was in Mesopotamia,beforehe livedin Haran,
"When you have eatenand are satisfied,you shall blessthe LORDyour Godfor the goodlandwhichHe has givenyou.
"Otherwise, you may sayin your heart,'My powerand the strengthof my handmademe thiswealth.'
"But you shall rememberthe LORDyour God,for it is He who is givingyou powerto makewealth,that He may confirmHis covenantwhichHe sworeto your fathers,as [it is] thisday.
Then the man,the ownerof the house,wentout to them and saidto them, "No,my fellows,pleasedo not actso wickedly;sincethismanhas comeinto my house,do not committhisactof folly.
"The LORDmakespoorand rich;He bringslow,He alsoexalts.
Then allthe wickedand worthlessmenamongthose whowentwith Davidsaid,"Becausethey did not gowith us, we will not givethem anyof the spoilthat we have recovered,exceptto everymanhis wifeand his children,that they may lead[them] awayand depart."
"And whowill listento you in thismatter?For as his shareis who goesdownto the battle,so shall his sharebe who staysby the baggage;they shall sharealike."
Davidinquiredof the LORD,saying,"Shall I pursuethisband?Shall I overtakethem?" And He saidto him, "Pursue,for you will surelyovertakethem, and you will surelyrescue[all]."
