Then the commandersof the Philistinessaid,"What[are] theseHebrews[doing here]?" And Achishsaidto the commandersof the Philistines,"Is thisnot David,the servantof Saulthe kingof Israel,whohas beenwith me thesedays,or[rather] theseyears,and I have foundnofaultin him from the dayhe deserted[to me] to thisday?"
Then a fugitivecameand toldAbramthe Hebrew.Now he was livingby the oaksof Mamrethe Amorite,brotherof Eshcoland brotherof Aner,and thesewere allieswith Abram.
From Manassehalso somedefectedto Davidwhen he was about to goto battlewith the PhilistinesagainstSaul.But they did not helpthem, for the lordsof the Philistinesafter consultationsenthim away,saying,"At [the cost of] our headshe may defectto his masterSaul."
As he wentto Ziklagthere defectedto him from Manasseh:Adnah,Jozabad,Jediael,Michael,Jozabad,Elihuand Zillethai,captainsof thousandswhobelonged to Manasseh.
Thenthesemensaid,"We will not findanygroundof accusationagainst thisDanielunlesswe find[it] againsthim with regard to the lawof his God."
Sowhenthe chief priestsand the officerssawHim, they criedout saying,"Crucify,crucify!"Pilatesaidto them, "TakeHim yourselvesand crucifyHim, for I findnoguiltin Him."
Neverpay backevilfor evilto anyone.Respectwhat is rightin the sightof allmen.
and keepa goodconsciencesothat in the thing in whichyou are slandered,thosewho revileyour goodbehaviorin Christwill be put to shame.
When bothof them revealedthemselves to the garrisonof the Philistines,the Philistinessaid,"Behold,Hebrewsare comingout of the holeswherethey have hiddenthemselves."
"Pleaseforgivethe transgressionof your maidservant;for the LORDwill certainlymakefor my lordan enduringhouse,becausemy lordis fightingthe battlesof the LORD,and evilwill not be foundin you allyour days.
Then Davidsaidto himself,"NowI will perishonedayby the handof Saul.Thereis nothingbetterfor me thanto escapeinto the landof the Philistines.Saulthen will despairof searchingfor me anymorein allthe territoryof Israel,and I will escapefrom his hand."
The numberof daysthat Davidlivedin the countryof the Philistineswas a yearand fourmonths.
Then AchishcalledDavidand saidto him, "[As] the LORDlives,you [have been] upright,and your goingout and your comingin with me in the armyare pleasingin my sight;for I have not foundevilin you from the dayof your comingto me to thisday.Nevertheless, you are not pleasingin the sightof the lords.
When the Philistinesheardthe noiseof the shout,they said,"What[does] the noiseof thisgreatshoutin the campof the Hebrews[mean]?" Then they understoodthat the arkof the LORDhad comeinto the camp.
