Samuelcameto Saul,and Saulsaidto him, "Blessedare you of the LORD!I have carriedout the commandof the LORD."
He blessedhim and said,"Blessedbe Abramof GodMostHigh,Possessorof heavenand earth;
The mansaid,"The womanwhomYou gave[to be] with me, she gaveme from the tree,and I ate."
Davidsentmessengersto the menof Jabesh-gilead,and saidto them, "May you be blessedof the LORDbecauseyou have shownthiskindnessto Saulyour lord,and have buriedhim.
Let anotherpraiseyou, and not your own mouth;A stranger,and not your own lips.
He who concealshis transgressionswill not prosper,But he who confessesand forsakes[them] will findcompassion.
There is a kind--oh howloftyare his eyes!And his eyelidsare raised[in arrogance].
Giveher the productof her hands,And let her workspraiseher in the gates.
"Soyou too,whenyou doall the thingswhich are commandedyou, say,'We are unworthyslaves;we have done[only] that whichwe oughtto have done.'"
"The Phariseestoodand was prayingthisto himself:'God,I thankYou that I amnot likeother people:swindlers,unjust,adulterers,orevenlikethistax collector.
He saidto his mother,"The elevenhundred[pieces] of silverwhichwere takenfrom you, about which you uttereda cursein my hearing,behold,the silveris with me; I tookit." And his mothersaid,"Blessedbe my sonby the LORD."
Then he said,"May you be blessedof the LORD,my daughter.You have shownyour lastkindnessto be betterthanthe firstby not goingafteryoungmen,whetherpoororrich.
As soon as he finishedofferingthe burntoffering,behold,Samuelcame;and Saulwentout to meethim [and] to greethim.
"I regretthat I have madeSaulking,for he has turnedbackfrom followingMe and has not carriedout My commands."And Samuelwas distressedand criedout to the LORDallnight.
Then Saulsaidto Samuel,"I did obeythe voiceof the LORD,and wenton the missionon whichthe LORDsentme, and have broughtback Agagthe kingof Amalek,and have utterlydestroyedthe Amalekites.
But Sauland the peoplesparedAgagand the bestof the sheep,the oxen,the fatlings,the lambs,and allthat was good,and were not willingto destroythem utterly;but everythingdespisedand worthless,that they utterlydestroyed.
Saulsaid,"May you be blessedof the LORD,for you have hadcompassionon me.
But oneof the youngmentoldAbigail,Nabal'swife,saying,"Behold,Davidsentmessengersfrom the wildernessto greetour master,and he scornedthem.
