that Your eyesmay be opentowardthishousenightand day,towardthe placeof whichYou have said,'My nameshall be there,'to listento the prayerwhichYour servantshall praytowardthisplace.
"However,I will not tearawayallthe kingdom,[but] I will giveonetribeto your sonfor the sakeof My servantDavidand for the sakeof JerusalemwhichI have chosen."
But to his sonI will giveonetribe,that My servantDavidmay havea lampalwaysbeforeMe in Jerusalem,the citywhereI have chosenfor Myself to putMy name.
Now Rehoboamthe sonof Solomonreignedin Judah.Rehoboamwas forty-oneyearsoldwhen he becameking,and he reignedseventeenyearsin Jerusalem,the citywhichthe LORDhad chosenfrom allthe tribesof Israelto putHis namethere.And his mother'snamewas Naamahthe Ammonitess.
Sincethe daythat I broughtMy peopleIsraelfrom Egypt,I did not choosea cityout of allthe tribesof Israel[in which] to builda housethat My namemight be there,but I choseDavidto be overMy peopleIsrael.'
hearin heavenYour dwellingplace,and doaccording to allfor whichthe foreignercallsto You, in orderthat allthe peoplesof the earthmay knowYour name,to fearYou, as [do] Your peopleIsrael,and that they may knowthat thishousewhichI have builtis calledby Your name.
that Your eyesmay be opento the supplicationof Your servantand to the supplicationof Your peopleIsrael,to listento them wheneverthey callto You.
The LORDsaidto him, "I have heardyour prayerand your supplication,whichyou have madebeforeMe; I have consecratedthishousewhichyou have builtby puttingMy namethereforever,and My eyesand My heartwill be thereperpetually.
"InclineYour ear,O LORD,and hear;openYour eyes,O LORD,and see;and listento the wordsof Sennacherib,whichhe has sentto reproachthe livingGod.
He builtaltarsin the houseof the LORD,of whichthe LORDhad said,"In JerusalemI will putMy name."
Then he setthe carvedimageof Asherahthat he had made,in the houseof whichthe LORDsaidto Davidand to his sonSolomon,"In thishouseand in Jerusalem,whichI have chosenfrom allthe tribesof Israel,I will putMy nameforever.
The LORDsaid,"I will removeJudahalsofrom My sight,as I have removedIsrael.And I will castoffJerusalem,thiscitywhichI have chosen,and the templeof whichI said,'My nameshall be there.'"
"For the eyesof the LORDmoveto and frothroughoutthe earththat He may stronglysupportthose whose heartis completelyHis. You have actedfoolishlyin this.Indeed,from nowon you will surely havewars."
"They have livedin it, and have builtYou a sanctuarythere for Your name,saying,
He builtaltarsin the houseof the LORDof whichthe LORDhad said,"My nameshall be in Jerusalemforever."
Then he putthe carvedimageof the idolwhichhe had madein the houseof God,of whichGodhad saidto Davidand to Solomonhis son,"In thishouseand in Jerusalem,whichI have chosenfrom allthe tribesof Israel,I will putMy nameforever;
that Your eyemay be opentowardthishousedayand night,towardthe placeof whichYou have saidthat [You would] putYour namethere,to listento the prayerwhichYour servantshall praytowardthisplace.
"Now,O my God,I pray,let Your eyesbe openand Your earsattentiveto the prayer[offered] in thisplace.
let Your earnowbe attentiveand Your eyesopento hearthe prayerof Your servantwhichI am prayingbeforeYou now,dayand night,on behalfof the sonsof IsraelYour servants,confessingthe sinsof the sonsof Israelwhichwe have sinnedagainst You; I and my father'shousehave sinned.
but [if] you returnto Me and keepMy commandmentsand dothem, thoughthose of you who have been scatteredwere in the mostremotepartof the heavens,I will gatherthem from thereand will bringthem to the placewhereI have chosento cause My nameto dwell.'
I will bowdowntowardYour holytempleAnd givethanksto Your namefor Your lovingkindnessand Your truth;For You have magnifiedYour wordaccordingto allYour name.
The eyesof the LORDare towardthe righteousAnd His earsare [open] to their cry.
You shall makean altarof earthfor Me, and you shall sacrificeon it your burntofferingsand your peaceofferings,your sheepand your oxen;in everyplacewhereI cause My nameto be remembered,I will cometo you and blessyou.
Now whenDanielknewthat the documentwas signed,he enteredhis house(now in his roofchamberhe had windowsopentowardJerusalem);and he continued kneelingon his kneesthreetimesa day,prayingand givingthanksbeforehis God,as he had been doingpreviously.
"O my God,inclineYour earand hear!OpenYour eyesand seeour desolationsand the citywhichis calledby Your name;for we are not presentingour supplicationsbeforeYou on accountof any meritsof our own, but on accountof Your greatcompassion.
"In that day,"declaresthe LORD,"I will strikeeveryhorsewith bewildermentand his riderwith madness.But I will watchoverthe houseof Judah,while I strikeeveryhorseof the peopleswith blindness.
then it shall comeabout that the placein whichthe LORDyour Godwill choosefor His nameto dwell,thereyou shall bringallthat I commandyou: your burntofferingsand your sacrifices,your tithesand the contributionof your hand,and allyour choicevotiveofferingswhichyou will vowto the LORD.
but in the placewhichthe LORDchoosesin oneof your tribes,thereyou shall offeryour burntofferings,and thereyou shall doallthat I commandyou.
"But you shall seek[the LORD] at the placewhichthe LORDyour Godwill choosefrom allyour tribes,to establishHis nametherefor His dwelling,and thereyou shall come.
"You shall sacrificethe Passoverto the LORDyour Godfrom the flockand the herd,in the placewherethe LORDchoosesto establishHis name.
but at the placewherethe LORDyour Godchoosesto establishHis name,you shall sacrificethe Passoverin the eveningat sunset,at the timethat you cameout of Egypt.
that you shall takesomeof the firstof allthe produceof the groundwhichyou bringin from your landthat the LORDyour Godgivesyou, and you shall put[it] in a basketand goto the placewherethe LORDyour Godchoosesto establishHis name.
