We are from God;he who knowsGodlistensto us; he whois not from Goddoes not listento us. By thiswe knowthe spiritof truthand the spiritof error.
"He said,'I will goand be a deceivingspiritin the mouthof allhis prophets.'Then He said,'You are to entice[him] and prevailalso.Goand doso.'
For the LORDhas pouredoveryou a spiritof deepsleep,He has shutyour eyes,the prophets;And He has coveredyour heads,the seers.
To the lawand to the testimony!Ifthey do not speakaccording to thisword,it is becausethey havenodawn.
My peopleconsulttheir woodenidol, and their [diviner's] wandinformsthem; For a spiritof harlotryhas led[them] astray,And they have playedthe harlot,[departing] from their God.
"Ifa manwalkingafter windand falsehoodHad toldlies[and said], 'I will speakout to you concerning wineand liquor,'He would be spokesmanto thispeople.
On the otherhandI am filledwith power--With the Spiritof the LORD--And with justiceand courageTo makeknownto Jacobhis rebelliousact,Even to Israelhis sin.
"All thingshave been handed overto Me by My Father,and no oneknowswhothe Sonis exceptthe Father,and whothe Fatheris exceptthe Son,and anyone to whomthe Sonwillsto reveal[Him]."
"I haveothersheep,whichare not of thisfold;I mustbringthem also,and they will hearMy voice;and they will becomeoneflock[with] oneshepherd.
"My sheephearMy voice,and I knowthem, and they followMe;
"To him the doorkeeperopens,and the sheephearhis voice,and he callshis ownsheepby nameand leadsthem out.
"Truly,truly,I sayto you, he who receiveswhomeverI sendreceivesMe; and he who receivesMe receivesHim who sentMe."
[that is] the Spiritof truth,whomthe worldcannotreceive,becauseit does not seeHim orknowHim, [but] you knowHim becauseHe abideswith you and will be in you.
"Whenthe Helpercomes,whomI will sendto you from the Father,[that is] the Spiritof truthwhoproceedsfrom the Father,He will testifyaboutMe,
"But whenHe, the Spiritof truth,comes,He will guideyou into allthe truth;for He will not speakon His own initiative,but whateverHe hears,He will speak;and He will discloseto you what is to come.
ThereforePilatesaidto Him, "SoYou are a king?"Jesusanswered,"You say[correctly] that I ama king.For thisI have been born,and for thisI have comeinto the world,to testifyto the truth.Everyonewho is of the truthhearsMy voice."
SoJesussaidto them again,"Peace[be] with you; as the Fatherhas sentMe, I alsosendyou."
Sothey were sayingto Him, "Whereis Your Father?"Jesusanswered,"You knowneitherMe norMy Father;ifyou knew Me, you would knowMy Fatheralso."
And He was sayingto them, "You are from below,I amfrom above;you are of thisworld,I amnot of thisworld.
Paul,a bond-servantof ChristJesus,called[as] an apostle,set apartfor the gospelof God,
justas it is written,"GODGAVETHEM A SPIRITOF STUPOR,EYESTO SEENOT AND EARSTO HEARNOT, DOWNTO THIS VERYDAY."
Ifanyonethinkshe is a prophetorspiritual,let him recognizethat the things whichI writeto you are the Lord'scommandment.
You are lookingat things as they are outwardly.Ifanyoneis confidentin himselfthat he is Christ's,let him considerthisagainwithinhimself,that justas he is Christ's,soalsoare we.
dealingout retributionto thosewho do not knowGodand to thosewho do not obeythe gospelof our LordJesus.
But the Spiritexplicitlysaysthat in latertimessomewill fall awayfrom the faith,paying attentionto deceitfulspiritsand doctrinesof demons,
that you should rememberthe wordsspoken beforehandby the holyprophetsand the commandmentof the Lordand Savior[spoken] by your apostles.
Beloved,do not believeeveryspirit,but testthe spiritsto see whetherthey are from God,becausemanyfalse prophetshave goneout into the world.
You are from God,little children,and have overcomethem; becausegreateris He who is in you thanhe who is in the world.
The one who does not lovedoes not knowGod,for Godis love.
We knowthat we are of God,and that the wholeworldliesin [the power of] the evil one.
But you, beloved,ought to rememberthe wordsthat were spoken beforehandby the apostlesof our LordJesusChrist,
