Beloved,I am not writinga newcommandmentto you, but an oldcommandmentwhichyou have hadfrom the beginning;the oldcommandmentis the wordwhichyou have heard.
You shall not takevengeance,norbearany grudgeagainstthe sonsof your people,but you shall loveyour neighboras yourself; I am the LORD.
For thisis the messagewhichyou have heardfrom the beginning,that we should loveone another;
Thisis His commandment,that we believein the nameof His SonJesusChrist,and loveone another,justas He commandedus.
"You shall lovethe LORDyour Godwith allyour heartand with allyour souland with allyour might.
The strangerwho resideswith you shall be to you as the nativeamongyou, and you shall lovehim as yourself, for you were aliensin the landof Egypt;I am the LORDyour God.
As for you, let that abidein you whichyou heardfrom the beginning.Ifwhatyou heardfrom the beginningabidesin you, you alsowill abidein the Sonand in the Father.
"You have heardthat it was said,YOU SHALL LOVEYOUR NEIGHBORand hateyour enemy.'
And they tookhim and broughthim to the Areopagus,saying,"Maywe knowwhatthisnewteachingis which you are proclaiming?
"A newcommandmentI giveto you, that you loveoneanother,evenas I have lovedyou, that you alsoloveone another.
But, beloved,we are convincedof better thingsconcerningyou, and things that accompanysalvation,thoughwe are speakingin this way.
Beloved,nowwe are childrenof God,and it has not appearedas yetwhatwe will be. We knowthat whenHe appears,we will be likeHim, becausewe will seeHim justas He is.
Beloved,ifour heartdoes not condemnus, we haveconfidencebeforeGod;
Beloved,do not believeeveryspirit,but testthe spiritsto see whetherthey are from God,becausemanyfalse prophetshave goneout into the world.
Beloved,let us loveone another,for loveis from God;and everyonewho lovesis bornof Godand knowsGod.
Beloved,ifGodsolovedus, we alsooughtto loveone another.
And thiscommandmentwe havefrom Him, that the one who lovesGodshould lovehis brotheralso.
