"So now,in the sightof allIsrael,the assemblyof the LORD,and in the hearingof our God,observeand seekafterallthe commandmentsof the LORDyour Godsothat you may possessthe goodlandand bequeath[it] to your sonsafteryou forever.
I will establishhis kingdomforeverifhe resolutelyperformsMy commandmentsand My ordinances,as is done now.'
"As for you, my sonSolomon,knowthe Godof your father,and serveHim with a wholeheartand a willingmind;for the LORDsearchesallhearts,and understandseveryintentof the thoughts.Ifyou seekHim, He will let you findHim; but ifyou forsakeHim, He will rejectyou forever.
So nowdo not giveyour daughtersto their sonsnortaketheir daughtersto your sons,and neverseektheir peaceor their prosperity,that you may be strongand eatthe good[things] of the landand leave[it] as an inheritanceto your sonsforever.'
Make me understandthe wayof Your precepts,So I will meditateon Your wonders.
You have ordainedYour precepts,That we should keep[them] diligently.
So I will keepYour lawcontinually,Foreverand ever.
"Now concerning everythingwhichI have saidto you, be on your guard;and do not mentionthe nameof othergods,norlet [them] be heardfrom your mouth.
A goodmanleavesan inheritanceto his children'schildren,And the wealthof the sinneris storedup for the righteous.
My son,do not forgetmy teaching,But let your heartkeepmy commandments;
Seekfrom the bookof the LORD,and read:Not oneof thesewill be missing;Nonewill lackits mate.For His mouthhas commanded,And His Spirithas gatheredthem.
"SoI sentfor you immediately,and you have been kind enoughto come.Nowthen,we are allhere presentbeforeGodto hearallthat you have been commandedby the Lord."
Nowthesewere more noble-mindedthan thosein Thessalonica,for they receivedthe wordwith greateagerness,examiningthe Scripturesdaily[to see] whetherthese thingswere so.
Then Mosesand the eldersof Israelchargedthe people,saying,"Keepallthe commandmentswhichI commandyou today.
"You standtoday,allof you, beforethe LORDyour God:your chiefs,your tribes,your eldersand your officers,[even] allthe menof Israel,
but both with those whostandherewith us todayin the presenceof the LORDour Godand with those whoare not with us heretoday
"Now,O Israel,listento the statutesand the judgmentswhichI am teachingyou to perform,sothat you may liveand goin and takepossessionof the landwhichthe LORD,the Godof your fathers,is givingyou.
I callheavenand earthto witnessagainst you today,that you will surelyperishquicklyfrom the landwhereyou are goingoverthe Jordanto possessit. You shall not livelongon it, but will be utterlydestroyed.
"So keepand do[them], for that is your wisdomand your understandingin the sightof the peopleswhowill hearallthesestatutesand say,'Surelythisgreatnationis a wiseand understandingpeople.'
"So you shall observeto dojustas the LORDyour Godhas commandedyou; you shall not turnasideto the rightor to the left.
"You shall walkin allthe waywhichthe LORDyour Godhas commandedyou, that you may liveand that it may be wellwith you, and that you may prolong[your] daysin the landwhichyou will possess.
"Ifyou forsakethe LORDand serveforeigngods,then He will turnand doyou harmand consumeyou afterHe has donegoodto you."
