And Aḇram said, “Master יהוה, what would You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eli‛ezer of Dammeseq?”


and gathered men to him and became commander over a raiding band, when Dawiḏ killed those of Tsoḇah. And they went to Dammeseq and dwelt there, and reigned in Dammeseq.


And the sovereign of Ashshur listened to him. And the sovereign of Ashshur went up against Dammeseq and captured it, and exiled it to Qir, and he killed Retsin.


And when Aram of Darmeseq came to help Haḏaḏezer sovereign of Tsoḇah, Dawiḏ struck twenty-two thousand of Aram,


and he slaughtered to the mighty ones of Darmeseq, those striking him, saying, “Because the mighty ones of the sovereigns of Aram help them, I slaughter to them and they help me.” But they were to cause him and all Yisra’ĕl to stumble.


Therefore יהוה his Elohim gave him into the hand of the sovereign of Aram, and they struck him, and took many of them away as captives, and brought them to Darmeseq. And he was also given into the hand of the sovereign of Yisra’ĕl, who struck him with a great slaughter.


Is not Kalno like Karkemish? Is not Ḥamath like Arpaḏ? Is not Shomeron like Dammeseq?


The message concerning Baḇel which Yeshayahu son of Amots saw.


The message concerning Mo’aḇ. Because in the night Ar of Mo’aḇ was laid waste, was silenced! Because in the night Qir of Mo’aḇ was laid waste, was silenced!


The message concerning Mitsrayim. See, יהוה is riding on a swift cloud, and He shall come into Mitsrayim. And the idols of Mitsrayim shall tremble at His presence, and the heart of Mitsrayim melt in its midst.


For You shall make a city a heap, a walled city a ruin, a palace of foreigners to be a city no more – never to be rebuilt.


“Have you not heard long ago how I made it, from days of old, that I formed it? Now I have brought it about, that you should be for crushing walled cities into heaps of ruins.

“Therefore see, the days are coming,” declares יהוה, “when I shall sound a battle cry in Rabbah of the Ammonites. And it shall be a heap, a wasteland, and her villages shall be burned with fire. Then Yisra’ĕl shall dispossess those who dispossessed him,” declares יהוה.


“And I shall make Shomeron a heap in the field, places for planting a vineyard. And I shall pour down her stones into the valley, and uncover her foundations.


Therefore, because of you, Tsiyon is ploughed like a field, and Yerushalayim becomes heaps, and the mountain of the House like a wooded height.


The message of the word of יהוה against the land of Ḥaḏraḵ, and Dammeseq its resting place – when the eye of man and all the tribes of Yisra’ĕl are on יהוה –


asked from him letters to the congregations of Dammeseq, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, to bring them bound to Yerushalayim.


“And gather all its plunder into the middle of the street, and completely burn with fire the city and all its plunder, before יהוה your Elohim. And it shall be a heap forever, never to be built again.
