But Aḇishai son of Tseruyah came to help him, and struck the Philistine and killed him. Then Dawiḏ’s men swore to him, saying, “Do not go out with us to battle any more, lest you put out the lamp of Yisra’ĕl.”


“Only, I do not do it in your days, for the sake of your father Dawiḏ. Out of the hand of your son I shall tear it.


but he shall have one tribe for the sake of My servant Dawiḏ, and for the sake of Yerushalayim, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Yisra’ĕl.


And to his son I give one tribe, so that My servant Dawiḏ shall always have a lamp before Me in Yerushalayim, the city which I have chosen for Myself, to put My Name there.


However, יהוה would not destroy the house of Dawiḏ, because of the covenant He had made with Dawiḏ, and since He had promised to give a lamp to him and to his sons, all the days.


There I make the horn of Dawiḏ grow; I shall set up a lamp for My Anointed One.”


For You Yourself light my lamp; יהוה my Elohim makes my darkness light.


And of Tsiyon it is said, “Each one was born in her; For the Most High Himself does establish her.”


And what does one answer the messengers of a nation? “That יהוה has founded Tsiyon, and the poor of His people take refuge in it.”


And I shall defend this city, to save it for My own sake and for the sake of My servant Dawiḏ.’ ”


and give Him no rest till He establishes and till He makes Yerushalayim a praise in the earth.


Of the increase of His rule and peace there is no end, upon the throne of Dawiḏ and over His reign, to establish it and sustain it with right-ruling and with righteousness from now on, even forever. The ardour of יהוה of hosts does this.


“Thus said יהוה who made it, יהוה who formed it to establish it, יהוה is His Name,


And I also say to you that you are Kĕpha, and on this rock I shall build My assembly, and the gates of She’ol shall not overcome it.


a light for the unveiling of the nations, and the esteem of Your people Yisra’ĕl.”


Therefore יהושע spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall by no means walk in darkness, but possess the light of life.”


Truly, as regards the Good News they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the choice they are beloved for the sake of the fathers.


And because He loved your fathers, therefore He chose their seed after them, and brought you out of Mitsrayim with His Presence, with His great power,”


“I, יהושע, have sent My messenger to witness to you these matters in the assemblies. I am the Root and the Offspring of Dawiḏ, the Bright and Morning Star.”
