Then all the guests of Adonijah trembled and rose, and each went his own way.


Then Haman said, “Even Queen Esther let no one but me come with the king to the feast she prepared. And tomorrow also I am invited by her together with the king.


Fear and trembling come upon me, and horror overwhelms me.


And I say, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest;


My anguish, my anguish! I writhe in pain! Oh the walls of my heart! My heart is beating wildly; I cannot keep silent, for I hear the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.


While they are inflamed I will prepare them a feast and make them drunk, that they may become merry, then sleep a perpetual sleep and not wake, declares the Lord.


I will make drunk her officials and her wise men, her governors, her commanders, and her warriors; they shall sleep a perpetual sleep and not wake, declares the King, whose name is the Lord of hosts.


King Belshazzar made a great feast for a thousand of his lords and drank wine in front of the thousand.


That very night Belshazzar the Chaldean king was killed.


Immediately the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace, opposite the lampstand. And the king saw the hand as it wrote.


For they are like entangled thorns, like drunkards as they drink; they are consumed like stubble fully dried.


In the morning you shall say, ‘If only it were evening!’ and at evening you shall say, ‘If only it were morning!’ because of the dread that your heart shall feel, and the sights that your eyes shall see.


Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, that flutters over its young, spreading out its wings, catching them, bearing them on its pinions,
