And he turned his name, and called him in the Egyptian tongue, The saviour of the world. And he gave him to wife Asenth, the daughter of Putiphare priest of Heliopolis. Then Joseph went out to the land of Egypt:


And before the famine came, Joseph had two sons born: whom Aseneth, the daughter of Putiphare, priest of Heliopolis, bore unto him.


And all its people from one end of the borders of Egypt, even to the other end thereof,


Then Joseph said to the people: Behold, as you see, both you and your lands belong to Pharao: Take seed and sow the fields,


From that time unto this day, in the whole land of Egypt, the fifth part is paid to the king: and it is become as a law, except the land of the priests, which was free from this covenant.


And Banaias the son of Joiada was over the Cerethi and Phelethi: and the sons of David were the princes.


We give you also to understand concerning all the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nathinites, and ministers of the house of this God, that you have no authority to impose toll or tribute, or custom upon them.


And I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them: and that the Levites, and the singing men, and they that ministered were fled away every man to his own country.


Nor scrip for your journey, nor two coats, nor shoes, nor a staff; for the workman is worthy of his meat.


Know you not, that they who work in the holy place, eat the things that are of the holy place; and they that serve the altar, partake with the altar?


And let him that is instructed in the word, communicate to him that instructeth him, in all good things.


Take heed thou forsake not the Levite all the time that thou livest in the land.


For also when we were with you, this we declared to you: that, if any man will not work, neither let him eat.


Let the priests that rule well, be esteemed worthy of double honour: especially they who labour in the word and doctrine:
