The king therefore being much moved, went up to the high chamber over the gate, and wept. And as he went he spoke in this manner: My son Absalom, Absalom my son! Would to God that I might die for thee, Absalom my son, my son Absalom!


And David commanded his servants: and they slew them: and cutting off their hands and feet hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But the head of Isboseth they took and buried in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.


(Which is a very great iniquity, and a denial against the most high God):


If I have been glad at the downfall of him that hated me, and have rejoiced that evil had found him.


When thy enemy shall fall, be not glad, and in his ruin let not thy heart rejoice:


David and the people that were with him lifted up their voices, and wept till they had no more tears.
