And David took from him a thousand and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen, and houghed all the chariot horses: and only reserved of them for one hundred chariots.


And the foresaid governors of the king fed them: and they furnished the necessaries also for king Solomon's table, with great care in their time.


And all the towns that belonged to himself, and were not walled, he fortified: the cities also of the chariots, and the cities of the horsemen, and whatsoever he had a mind to build in Jerusalem, and in Libanus, and in all the land of his dominion.


And he gathered to himself chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen: and he placed them in the cities of the chariots, and with the king in Jerusalem.


And Solomon had forty thousand horses in the stables, and twelve thousand chariots, and horsemen; and he placed them in the cities of the chariots, and where the king was in Jerusalem.


For thou shalt give him to be a blessing for ever and ever: thou shalt make him joyful in gladness with thy countenance.


And when he is made king, he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor lead back the people into Egypt, being lifted up with the number of his horsemen: especially since the Lord hath commanded you to return no more the same way.
