But David took the castle of Sion. The same is the city of David.


And David dwelt in the castle, and called it, The city of David: and built round about from Mello and inwards.


And when thy days shall be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels: and I will establish his kingdom.


Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king sleepeth with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders.


And when Adad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the general of the army was dead, he add to Pharao: Let me depart, that I may go to my own country.

And they brought him away upon horses: and he was buried in Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.


And Joatham slept with his fathers, and was buried with them in the city of David his father: and Achaz his son reigned in his stead.


And Achaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with them in the city of David. And Ezechias his son reigned in his stead.


And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with them in the city of David: and Ochozias his son reigned in his stead.


And his servants laid him upon his chariot, and carried him to Jerusalem: and they buried him in his sepulchre with his fathers in the city of David.


And David dwelt in the castle: and therefore it was called the city of David.


And he died in a good age, full of days, and riches, and glory. And Solomon his son reigned in his stead.


And they buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done good to Israel, and to his house.


And he slept with his fathers. And they buried him in the city of David: and Roboam his son reigned in his stead.


For David, when he had served in his generation, according to the will of God, slept: and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption.


Ye men, brethren, let me freely speak to you of the patriarch David; that he died, and was buried; and his sepulchre is with us to this present day.
