2 Samuel 12 - King James Bible with Strong Numbers

1 H3068And the LORDH7971sent[H8799] H5416NathanH1732unto DavidH935. And he came[H8799] H559unto him, and said[H8799] H8147unto him, There were twoH582menH259in oneH5892cityH259; the oneH6223richH259, and the otherH7326poor[H8802] .

2 H6223The richH3966man had exceedingH7235many[H8687] H6629flocksH1241and herds:

3 H7326But the poor[H8802] H259man had nothing, save oneH6996littleH3535ewe lambH7069, which he had bought[H8804] H2421and nourished up[H8762] H1431: and it grew up[H8799] H3162togetherH1121with him, and with his childrenH398; it did eat[H8799] H6595of his own meatH8354, and drank[H8799] H3563of his own cupH7901, and lay[H8799] H2436in his bosomH1323, and was unto him as a daughter.

4 H935And there came[H8799] H1982a travellerH6223unto the richH376manH2550, and he spared[H8799] H3947to take[H8800] H6629of his own flockH1241and of his own herdH6213, to dress[H8800] H732for the wayfaring man[H8802] H935that was come[H8802] H3947unto him; but took[H8799] H7326the poor[H8802] H376man'sH3535lambH6213, and dressed[H8799] H376it for the manH935that was come[H8802]  to him.

5 H1732And David'sH639angerH3966was greatlyH2734kindled[H8799] H376against the manH559; and he said[H8799] H5416to NathanH3068, As the LORDH2416livethH376, the manH6213that hath done[H8802] H1121this thing shall surelyH4194die:

6 H7999And he shall restore[H8762] H3535the lambH706fourfoldH6118, becauseH6213he did[H8804] H1697this thingH834, and becauseH2550he had no pity[H8804] .

7 H5416And NathanH559said[H8799] H1732to DavidH376, Thou art the manH559. Thus saith[H8804] H3068the LORDH430GodH3478of IsraelH4886, I anointed[H8804] H4428thee kingH3478over IsraelH5337, and I delivered[H8689] H3027thee out of the handH7586of Saul;

8 H5414And I gave[H8799] H113thee thy master'sH1004houseH113, and thy master'sH802wivesH2436into thy bosomH5414, and gave[H8799] H1004thee the houseH3478of IsraelH3063and of JudahH4592; and if that had been too littleH3254, I would moreover have given[H8686] H2007unto thee suchH2007and such things.

9 H959Wherefore hast thou despised[H8804] H1697the commandmentH3068of the LORDH6213, to do[H8800] H7451evilH5869in his sightH5221? thou hast killed[H8689] H223UriahH2850the HittiteH2719with the swordH3947, and hast taken[H8804] H802his wifeH802to be thy wifeH2026, and hast slain[H8804] H2719him with the swordH1121of the childrenH5983of Ammon.

10 H2719Now therefore the swordH5704shall neverH5769 H5493depart[H8799] H1004from thine houseH6118; becauseH959thou hast despised[H8804] H3947me, and hast taken[H8799] H802the wifeH223of UriahH2850the HittiteH802to be thy wife.

11 H559Thus saith[H8804] H3068the LORDH6965, Behold, I will raise up[H8688] H7451evilH1004against thee out of thine own houseH3947, and I will take[H8804] H802thy wivesH5869before thine eyesH5414, and give[H8804] H7453them unto thy neighbourH7901, and he shall lie[H8804] H802with thy wivesH5869in the sightH8121of this sun.

12 H6213For thou didst[H8804] H5643it secretlyH6213: but I will do[H8799] H1697this thingH3478before all IsraelH8121, and before the sun.

13 H1732And DavidH559said[H8799] H5416unto NathanH2398, I have sinned[H8804] H3068against the LORDH5416. And NathanH559said[H8799] H1732unto DavidH3068, The LORDH5674also hath put away[H8689] H2403thy sinH4191; thou shalt not die[H8799] .

14 H657HowbeitH1697, because by this deedH5006thou hast givenH5006great occasion[H8763] H341to the enemies[H8802] H3068of the LORDH5006to blaspheme[H8765] H1121, the childH3209also that is bornH4191unto thee shall surely[H8800] H4191die[H8799] .

15 H5416And NathanH3212departed[H8799] H1004unto his houseH3068. And the LORDH5062struck[H8799] H3206the childH223that Uriah'sH802wifeH3205bare[H8804] H1732unto DavidH605, and it was very sick[H8735] .

16 H1732DavidH1245therefore besought[H8762] H430GodH5288for the childH1732; and DavidH6684fasted[H8799] H6685 H935, and went in[H8804] H7901, and lay[H8804] H3885all night[H8804] H776upon the earth.

17 H2205And the eldersH1004of his houseH6965arose[H8799] H6965, and went to him, to raise him up[H8687] H776from the earthH14: but he would[H8804] H1262not, neither did he eat[H8804] H3899bread with them.

18 H7637And it came to pass on the seventhH3117dayH3206, that the childH4191died[H8799] H5650. And the servantsH1732of DavidH3372feared[H8799] H5046to tell[H8687] H3206him that the childH4191was dead[H8804] H559: for they said[H8804] H3206, Behold, while the childH2416was yet aliveH1696, we spake[H8765] H8085unto him, and he would not hearken[H8804] H6963unto our voiceH6213: how will he thenH7451vexH6213himself[H8804] H559, if we tell[H8799] H3206him that the childH4191is dead[H8804] ?

19 H1732But when DavidH7200saw[H8799] H5650that his servantsH3907whispered[H8693] H1732, DavidH995perceived[H8799] H3206that the childH4191was dead[H8804] H1732: therefore DavidH559said[H8799] H5650unto his servantsH3206, Is the childH4191dead[H8804] H559? And they said[H8799] H4191, He is dead[H8804] .

20 H1732Then DavidH6965arose[H8799] H776from the earthH7364, and washed[H8799] H5480, and anointed[H8686] H2498himself, and changed[H8762] H8071his apparelH935, and came[H8799] H1004into the houseH3068of the LORDH7812, and worshipped[H8691] H935: then he came[H8799] H1004to his own houseH7592; and when he required[H8799] H7760, they set[H8799] H3899breadH398before him, and he did eat[H8799] .

21 H559Then said[H8799] H5650his servantsH1697unto him, What thingH6213is this that thou hast done[H8804] H6684? thou didst fast[H8804] H1058and weep[H8799] H3206for the childH2416, while it was aliveH3206; but when the childH4191was dead[H8804] H6965, thou didst rise[H8804] H398and eat[H8799] H3899bread.

22 H559And he said[H8799] H3206, While the childH2416was yet aliveH6684, I fasted[H8804] H1058and wept[H8799] H559: for I said[H8804] H3045, Who can tell[H8802] H3068whether GODH2603will be gracious[H8804] [H8675] H2603 [H8762] H3206to me, that the childH2416may live?

23 H4191But now he is dead[H8804] H6684, wherefore should I fast[H8802] H3201? can[H8799] H7725I bring him back again[H8687] H1980? I shall go[H8802] H7725to him, but he shall not return[H8799]  to me.

24 H1732And DavidH5162comforted[H8762] H1339BathshebaH802his wifeH935, and went in[H8799] H7901unto her, and lay[H8799] H3205with her: and she bare[H8799] H1121a sonH7121, and he called[H8799] H8034his nameH8010SolomonH3068: and the LORDH157loved[H8804]  him.

25 H7971And he sent[H8799] H3027by the handH5416of NathanH5030the prophetH7121; and he called[H8799] H8034his nameH3041JedidiahH3068, because of the LORD.

26 H3097And JoabH3898fought[H8735] H7237against RabbahH1121of the childrenH5983of AmmonH3920, and took[H8799] H4410the royalH5892city.

27 H3097And JoabH7971sent[H8799] H4397messengersH1732to DavidH559, and said[H8799] H3898, I have fought[H8738] H7237against RabbahH3920, and have taken[H8804] H5892the cityH4325of waters.

28 H622Now therefore gatherH3499the restH5971of the peopleH622together[H8798] H2583, and encamp[H8798] H5892against the cityH3920, and take[H8798] H3920it: lest I take[H8799] H5892the cityH7121, and it be called[H8738] H8034after my name.

29 H1732And DavidH622gatheredH5971all the peopleH622together[H8799] H3212, and went[H8799] H7237to RabbahH3898, and fought[H8735] H3920against it, and took[H8799]  it.

30 H3947And he took[H8799] H4428their king'sH5850crownH7218from off his headH4948, the weightH3603whereof was a talentH2091of goldH3368with the preciousH68stonesH1732: and it was set on David'sH7218headH3318. And he brought forth[H8689] H7998the spoilH5892of the cityH3966in greatH7235abundance[H8687] .

31 H3318And he brought forth[H8689] H5971the peopleH7760that were therein, and put[H8799] H4050them under sawsH2757, and under harrowsH1270of ironH4037, and under axesH1270of ironH5674, and made them pass[H8689] H4404through the brickkilnH6213: and thus did[H8799] H5892he unto all the citiesH1121of the childrenH5983of AmmonH1732. So DavidH5971and all the peopleH7725returned[H8799] H3389unto Jerusalem.
