2 Samuel 11 - King James Bible with Strong Numbers

1 H8141And it came to pass, after the yearH8666was expiredH6256, at the timeH4428when kings[H8675] H4397 H3318go forth[H8800] H1732to battle, that DavidH7971sent[H8799] H3097JoabH5650, and his servantsH3478with him, and all IsraelH7843; and they destroyed[H8686] H1121the childrenH5983of AmmonH6696, and besieged[H8799] H7237RabbahH1732. But DavidH3427tarried still[H8802] H3389at Jerusalem.

2 H6153And it came to pass in an eveningtideH6256 H1732, that DavidH6965arose[H8799] H4904from off his bedH1980, and walked[H8691] H1406upon the roofH4428of the king'sH1004houseH1406: and from the roofH7200he saw[H8799] H802a womanH7364washing[H8801] H802herself; and the womanH3966was veryH2896beautifulH4758to look upon.

3 H1732And DavidH7971sent[H8799] H1875and enquired[H8799] H802after the womanH559. And one said[H8799] H1339, Is not this BathshebaH1323, the daughterH463of EliamH802, the wifeH223of UriahH2850the Hittite?

4 H1732And DavidH7971sent[H8799] H4397messengersH3947, and took[H8799] H935her; and she came in[H8799] H7901unto him, and he lay[H8799] H6942with her; for she was purified[H8693] H2932from her uncleannessH7725: and she returned[H8799] H1004unto her house.

5 H802And the womanH2029conceived[H8799] H7971, and sent[H8799] H5046and told[H8686] H1732DavidH559, and said[H8799] H2030, I am with child.

6 H1732And DavidH7971sent[H8799] H3097to JoabH7971, saying, Send[H8798] H223me UriahH2850the HittiteH3097. And JoabH7971sent[H8799] H223UriahH1732to David.

7 H223And when UriahH935was come[H8799] H1732unto him, DavidH7592demanded[H8799] H3097of him how JoabH7965didH5971, and how the peopleH7965didH4421, and how the warH7965prospered.

8 H1732And DavidH559said[H8799] H223to UriahH3381, Go down[H8798] H1004to thy houseH7364, and wash[H8798] H7272thy feetH223. And UriahH3318departed out[H8799] H4428of the king'sH1004houseH310, and there followedH4864him a messH4428of meat from the king.

9 H223But UriahH7901slept[H8799] H6607at the doorH4428of the king'sH1004houseH5650with all the servantsH113of his lordH3381, and went not down[H8804] H1004to his house.

10 H5046And when they had told[H8686] H1732DavidH559, saying[H8800] H223, UriahH3381went not down[H8804] H1004unto his houseH1732, DavidH559said[H8799] H223unto UriahH935, Camest[H8802] H1870thou not from thy journeyH3381? why then didst thou not go down[H8804] H1004unto thine house?

11 H223And UriahH559said[H8799] H1732unto DavidH727, The arkH3478, and IsraelH3063, and JudahH3427, abide[H8802] H5521in tentsH113; and my lordH3097JoabH5650, and the servantsH113of my lordH2583, are encamped[H8802] H6440in the openH7704fieldsH589; shall IH935then go[H8799] H1004into mine houseH398, to eat[H8800] H8354and to drink[H8800] H7901, and to lie[H8800] H802with my wifeH2416? as thou livestH5315, and as thy soulH2416livethH6213, I will not do[H8799] H1697this thing.

12 H1732And DavidH559said[H8799] H223to UriahH3427, Tarry[H8798] H3117here to dayH4279also, and to morrowH7971I will let thee depart[H8762] H223. So UriahH3427abode[H8799] H3389in JerusalemH3117that dayH4283, and the morrow.

13 H1732And when DavidH7121had called[H8799] H398him, he did eat[H8799] H8354and drink[H8799] H6440beforeH7937him; and he made him drunk[H8762] H6153: and at evenH3318he went out[H8799] H7901to lie[H8800] H4904on his bedH5650with the servantsH113of his lordH3381, but went not down[H8804] H1004to his house.

14 H1242And it came to pass in the morningH1732, that DavidH3789wrote[H8799] H5612a letterH3097to JoabH7971, and sent[H8799] H3027it by the handH223of Uriah.

15 H3789And he wrote[H8799] H5612in the letterH559, saying[H8800] H3051, Set[H8798] H223ye UriahH6440in the forefrontH4136 H2389of the hottestH4421battleH7725, and retire[H8804] H310ye from himH5221, that he may be smitten[H8738] H4191, and die[H8804] .

16 H3097And it came to pass, when JoabH8104observed[H8800] H5892the cityH5414, that he assigned[H8799] H223UriahH4725unto a placeH3045where he knew[H8804] H2428that valiantH582men were .

17 H582And the menH5892of the cityH3318went out[H8799] H3898, and fought[H8735] H3097with JoabH5307: and there fell[H8799] H5971some of the peopleH5650of the servantsH1732of DavidH223; and UriahH2850the HittiteH4191died[H8799]  also.

18 H3097Then JoabH7971sent[H8799] H5046and told[H8686] H1732DavidH1697all the thingsH4421concerning the war;

19 H6680And charged[H8762] H4397the messengerH559, saying[H8800] H3615, When thou hast made an end[H8763] H1696of telling[H8763] H1697the mattersH4421of the warH4428unto the king,

20 H4428And if so be that the king'sH2534wrathH5927arise[H8799] H559, and he say[H8804] H5066unto thee, Wherefore approached ye so nigh[H8738] H5892unto the cityH3898when ye did fight[H8736] H3045? knew[H8804] H3384ye not that they would shoot[H8686] H2346from the wall?

21 H5221Who smote[H8689] H40AbimelechH1121the sonH3380of JerubbeshethH802? did not a womanH7993cast[H8689] H6400a pieceH7393of a millstoneH2346upon him from the wallH4191, that he died[H8799] H8405in ThebezH5066? why went ye nigh[H8738] H2346the wallH559? then say[H8804] H5650thou, Thy servantH223UriahH2850the HittiteH4191is dead[H8804]  also.

22 H4397So the messengerH3212went[H8799] H935, and came[H8799] H5046and shewed[H8686] H1732DavidH3097all that JoabH7971had sent[H8804]  him for.

23 H4397And the messengerH559said[H8799] H1732unto DavidH582, Surely the menH1396prevailed[H8804] H3318against us, and came out[H8799] H7704unto us into the fieldH6607, and we were upon them even unto the enteringH8179of the gate.

24 H3384And the shooters[H8688] H3384shot[H8686] H2346from off the wallH5650upon thy servantsH4428; and some of the king'sH5650servantsH4191be dead[H8799] H5650, and thy servantH223UriahH2850the HittiteH4191is dead[H8804]  also.

25 H1732Then DavidH559said[H8799] H4397unto the messengerH559, Thus shalt thou say[H8799] H3097unto JoabH1697, Let not this thingH3415displease[H8799] H5869 H2719thee, for the swordH398devoureth[H8799] H2090one as well as anotherH4421: make thy battleH2388more strong[H8685] H5892against the cityH2040, and overthrow[H8798] H2388it: and encourage[H8761]  thou him.

26 H802And when the wifeH223of UriahH8085heard[H8799] H223that UriahH376her husbandH4191was dead[H8804] H5594, she mourned[H8799] H1167for her husband.

27 H60And when the mourningH5674was past[H8799] H1732, DavidH7971sent[H8799] H622and fetched[H8799] H1004her to his houseH802, and she became his wifeH3205, and bare[H8799] H1121him a sonH1697. But the thingH1732that DavidH6213had done[H8804] H3415displeased[H8799] H5869 H3068the LORD.
