² H7991Then a lordH3027on whose handH4428the kingH8172leaned[H8737] H6030answered[H8799] H376the manH430of GodH559, and said[H8799] H3068, Behold, if the LORDH6213would make[H8802] H699windowsH8064in heavenH1697, might this thingH559be? And he said[H8799] H7200, Behold, thou shalt see[H8802] H5869it with thine eyesH398, but shalt not eat[H8799]  thereof.

³ H702And there were fourH6879leprous[H8794] H582menH6607at the entering inH8179of the gateH559: and they said[H8799] H376oneH7453to anotherH3427, Why sit[H8802] H4191we here until we die[H8804] ?

⁴ H559If we say[H8804] H935, We will enter[H8799] H5892into the cityH7458, then the famineH5892is in the cityH4191, and we shall die[H8804] H3427there: and if we sit still[H8804] H4191here, we die[H8804] H3212also. Now therefore come[H8798] H5307, and let us fall[H8799] H4264unto the hostH758of the SyriansH2421: if they save us alive[H8762] H2421, we shall live[H8799] H4191; and if they kill[H8686] H4191us, we shall but die[H8804] .

⁵ H6965And they rose up[H8799] H5399in the twilightH935, to go[H8800] H4264unto the campH758of the SyriansH935: and when they were come[H8799] H7097to the uttermost partH4264of the campH758of SyriaH376, behold, there was no man there.

¹¹ H7121And he called[H8799] H7778the portersH5046; and they told[H8686] H4428it to the king'sH1004houseH6441within.

¹² H4428And the kingH6965arose[H8799] H3915in the nightH559, and said[H8799] H5650unto his servantsH5046, I will now shew[H8686] H758you what the SyriansH6213have done[H8804] H3045to us. They know[H8804] H7457that we be hungryH3318; therefore are they gone out[H8799] H4264of the campH2247to hide[H8736] H7704themselves in the fieldH559, saying[H8800] H3318, When they come out[H8799] H5892of the cityH8610, we shall catch[H8799] H2416them aliveH935, and get[H8799] H5892into the city.

¹³ H259And oneH5650of his servantsH6030answered[H8799] H559and said[H8799] H3947, Let some take[H8799] H2568, I pray thee, fiveH5483of the horsesH7604that remain[H8737] H7604, which are left[H8738] H1995in the city, (behold, they are as all the multitudeH3478of IsraelH7604that are left[H8738] H1995in it: behold, I say, they are even as all the multitudeH3478of the IsraelitesH8552that are consumed[H8804] H7971:) and let us send[H8799] H7200and see[H8799] .

¹⁴ H3947They took[H8799] H8147therefore twoH7393chariotH5483horsesH4428; and the kingH7971sent[H8799] H310afterH4264the hostH758of the SyriansH559, saying[H8800] H3212, Go[H8798] H7200and see[H8798] .

¹⁵ H3212And they went[H8799] H310afterH3383them unto JordanH1870: and, lo, all the wayH4392was fullH899of garmentsH3627and vesselsH758, which the SyriansH7993had cast away[H8689] H2648in their haste[H8800] H4397. And the messengersH7725returned[H8799] H5046, and told[H8686] H4428the king.

¹⁶ H5971And the peopleH3318went out[H8799] H962, and spoiled[H8799] H4264the tentsH758of the SyriansH5429. So a measureH5560of fine flourH8255was sold for a shekelH5429, and two measuresH8184of barleyH8255for a shekelH1697, according to the wordH3068of the LORD.

¹⁷ H4428And the kingH6485appointed[H8689] H7991the lordH3027on whose handH8172he leaned[H8737] H8179to have the charge of the gateH5971: and the peopleH7429trode[H8799] H8179upon him in the gateH4191, and he died[H8799] H376, as the manH430of GodH1696had said[H8765] H1696, who spake[H8765] H4428when the kingH3381came down[H8800]  to him.

¹⁸ H376And it came to pass as the manH430of GodH1696had spoken[H8763] H4428to the kingH559, saying[H8800] H5429, Two measuresH8184of barleyH8255for a shekelH5429, and a measureH5560of fine flourH8255for a shekelH4279, shall be to morrowH6256about this timeH8179in the gateH8111of Samaria:
