³ H796And when they of AshdodH7925arose early[H8686] H4283on the morrowH1712, behold, DagonH5307was fallen[H8802] H6440upon his faceH776to the earthH6440beforeH727the arkH3068of the LORDH3947. And they took[H8799] H1712DagonH7725, and setH4725him in his placeH7725again[H8686] .

⁴ H7925And when they arose early[H8686] H4283on the morrowH1242morningH1712, behold, DagonH5307was fallen[H8802] H6440upon his faceH776to the groundH6440beforeH727the arkH3068of the LORDH7218; and the headH1712of DagonH8147and bothH3709the palmsH3027of his handsH3772were cut off[H8803] H4670upon the thresholdH1712; only the stump of DagonH7604was left[H8738]  to him.

⁵ H3548Therefore neither the priestsH1712of DagonH935, nor any that come[H8802] H1712into Dagon'sH1004houseH1869, tread[H8799] H4670on the thresholdH1712of DagonH795in AshdodH3117unto this day.

⁶ H3027But the handH3068of the LORDH3513was heavy[H8799] H796upon them of AshdodH8074, and he destroyed[H8686] H5221them, and smote[H8686] H2914them with emerods[H8675] H6076 H795, even AshdodH1366and the coasts thereof.

⁷ H582And when the menH795of AshdodH7200saw[H8799] H559that it was so, they said[H8804] H727, The arkH430of the GodH3478of IsraelH3427shall not abide[H8799] H3027with us: for his handH7185is sore[H8804] H1712upon us, and upon DagonH430our god.

⁸ H7971They sent[H8799] H622therefore and gathered[H8799] H5633all the lordsH6430of the PhilistinesH559unto them, and said[H8799] H6213, What shall we do[H8799] H727with the arkH430of the GodH3478of IsraelH559? And they answered[H8799] H727, Let the arkH430of the GodH3478of IsraelH5437be carried about[H8735] H1661unto GathH5437. And they carriedH727the arkH430of the GodH3478of IsraelH5437about[H8686]  thither .

⁹ H310And it was so, that, afterH5437they had carried it about[H8689] H3027, the handH3068of the LORDH5892was against the cityH3966with a veryH1419greatH4103destructionH5221: and he smote[H8686] H582the menH5892of the cityH6996, both smallH1419and greatH2914, and they had emerods[H8675] H6076 H8368in their secret parts[H8735] .

¹⁰ H7971Therefore they sent[H8762] H727the arkH430of GodH6138to EkronH727. And it came to pass, as the arkH430of GodH935came[H8800] H6138to EkronH6139, that the EkronitesH2199cried out[H8799] H559, saying[H8800] H5437, They have brought about[H8689] H727the arkH430of the GodH3478of IsraelH4191to us, to slay[H8687] H5971us and our people.

¹¹ H7971So they sent[H8799] H622and gathered together[H8799] H5633all the lordsH6430of the PhilistinesH559, and said[H8799] H7971, Send away[H8761] H727the arkH430of the GodH3478of IsraelH7725, and let it go again[H8799] H4725to his own placeH4191, that it slay[H8686] H5971us not, and our peopleH4194: for there was a deadlyH4103destructionH5892throughout all the cityH3027; the handH430of GodH3966was veryH3513heavy[H8804]  there.

¹² H582And the menH4191that died[H8804] H5221not were smitten[H8717] H2914with the emerods[H8675] H6076 H7775: and the cryH5892of the cityH5927went up[H8799] H8064to heaven.
