Isaiah 55 - Easy To Read Version

¹ “All you thirsty people,\par Come drink water!\par Don’t worry if you do not have money.\par Come, eat and drink until you are full!\par You do not need money;\par eat and drink until you are full.\par The food and wine cost nothing!\par

² Why waste your money on something\par that is not real food?\par Why should you work for something\par that does not really satisfy you?\par Listen very closely to me,\par and you will eat the good food.\par You will enjoy the food\par that satisfies your soul.\par

³ Listen closely to the things I say.\par Listen to me so your souls will live.\par Come to me and I will make an agreement\par with you that will continue forever.\par It will be like the agreement\par that I made with David.\par I promised David that I would love him\par and be loyal to him forever.\par And you can trust that agreement.\par

⁴ I made David a witness of my power\par for all nations.\par I promised David that he would become\par a ruler and a commander of many nations.”\par

⁵ There are nations in places you don’t know,\par but you will call for those nations.\par Those nations don’t know you,\par but they will run to you.\par This will happen because the Lord,\par your God, wants it.\par This will happen because the Holy One\par of Israel honors you.\par

⁶ So you should look for the Lord\par before it is too late.\par You should call to him now,\par while he is near.\par

⁷ Evil people should stop living evil lives.\par They should stop thinking bad thoughts.\par They should come to the Lord again.\par Then the Lord will comfort them.\par Those people should come to the Lord\par because our God forgives.\par

⁸ The Lord says,\par “Your thoughts are not like my thoughts.\par Your ways are not like my ways.\par

⁹ The heavens are higher than the earth.\par In the same way, my ways are higher than your ways.\par And my thoughts are higher than your thoughts.”\par The Lord himself said these things.\par

¹⁰ “Rain and snow fall from the sky.\par And they don’t go back to the sky\par until they touch the ground\par and make the ground wet.\par Then the ground makes plants sprout and grow.\par These plants make seeds for the farmer.\par And people use these seeds to make bread to eat.\par

¹¹ In the same way, my words leave my mouth,\par and they don’t come back until they make things happen.\par My words make the things happen that I want to happen.\par My words succeed in doing the things I send them to do.\par

¹² My words will go out with happiness,\par and they will bring peace.\par Mountains and hills will begin dancing with happiness.\par All the trees in the fields will clap their hands.\par

¹³ Large cypress trees will grow\par where there were bushes.\par Myrtle trees will grow\par where there were weeds.\par These things will make the Lord famous.\par These things will be proof\par \{that the Lord is powerful\}.\par This proof will never be destroyed.”\par
