Moses said to YHWH, “O Lord, I am not eloquent. I have not been before now, nor since you have spoken to your servant, for I am slow of speech and tongue.”


Moses said, “Oh, Lord, please send someone else.”


For in much wisdom is much grief; and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.


He touched my mouth with it and said, “See, this has touched your lips. Now your iniquity is taken away, and your sin forgiven.”


Then YHWH stretched out his hand and touched my mouth. Then YHWH said to me, “I have now put my words in your mouth.


Above the expanse that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone. On the likeness of the throne was a likeness as the appearance of a man on it above.


But when I speak with you, I will open your mouth, and you are to tell them, ‘This is what Lord YHWH says.’ Whoever will listen, let them listen; and whoever refuses, let them refuse; for they are a rebellious house.”


Now YHWH’s hand had been on me in the evening, before he who had escaped came; and he had opened my mouth until he came to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was no longer mute.


I heard, but I didn’t understand. Then I said, “My lord, what will be the outcome of these things?”


Then Daniel (whose name was also Belteshazzar), was stricken mute for a while, and his thoughts troubled him. The king answered, “Belteshazzar, don’t let the dream or the interpretation, trouble you.” Belteshazzar answered, “My lord, may the dream be for those who hate you, and its interpretation to your adversaries.


“As for me, Daniel, my spirit was grieved within my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.


“Here is the end of the matter. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts troubled me greatly, and my face was changed in me; but I kept the matter in my heart.”


When I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, I sought to understand it. There before me stood someone with the appearance of a man.


So he came near where I stood; and when he came, I was frightened, and fell on my face; but he said to me, “Understand, son of humanity, for the vision belongs to the time of the end.”


Now as he was speaking with me, I fell into a deep sleep with my face toward the ground; but he touched me and set me upright.


I, Daniel, fainted, and was sick for some days. Then I rose up and did the king’s business. I wondered at the vision, but no one understood it.


yes, while I was speaking in prayer—the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening offering.

He said to him, “O Lord, how can I save Israel? Look, my family is the poorest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.”
