And if thy foot offend thee, cut him off. It is better for thee to go halt into life, than with ij. feet to be cast into hell, into fire that never shall be quenched:
And there was a certain beggar, named Lazarus, which lay at his gate full of sores
¶ When he lift up his eyes, as he was in torments, he saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom,
Beyond all this between you and us there is a great space set, so that they which would go from hence to you, cannot: neither from thence come hither.
¶ But woe be to you that are rich: for ye have therein your consolation.
These words have I spoken unto you that in me ye might have peace. In the world shall ye have tribulation: but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
and strengthened the disciples souls, exhorting them to continue in the faith, affirming that we must throwe much adversity enter into the kingdom of God.
because that the fleshly mind is enmity against God: For it is not obedient to the law of God, neither can be.
whose end is damnation, whose God is their belly and glory to their shame, which are worldly minded.
that no man should be moved in these afflictions. For ye yourselves know that we are even appointed thereunto.
and chose rather to suffer adversity with the people of God, then to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season,
¶ See that ye love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the father is not in him.
