“Take your son,” God said, “your only son, Isaac, whom you love so much, and go to the land of Moriah. There on a mountain that I will show you, offer him as a sacrifice to me.”


How excellent are the Lord's faithful people! My greatest pleasure is to be with them.


When the Lord saw her, his heart was filled with pity for her, and he said to her, “Don't cry.”


A man named Lazarus, who lived in Bethany, became sick. Bethany was the town where Mary and her sister Martha lived. (


Jesus said this and then added, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I will go and wake him up.”


This Mary was the one who poured the perfume on the Lord's feet and wiped them with her hair; it was her brother Lazarus who was sick.)


Martha said to Jesus, “If you had been here, Lord, my brother would not have died!


“See how much he loved him!” the people said.


Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.


“You call me Teacher and Lord, and it is right that you do so, because that is what I am.


One of the disciples, the one whom Jesus loved, was sitting next to Jesus.


Erastus stayed in Corinth, and I left Trophimus in Miletus, because he was sick.


I rebuke and punish all whom I love. Be in earnest, then, and turn from your sins.
